Florida State sits “high” for 2025 Five-Star Plus+ DL Armondo Blount

A star-studded Seminole Showcase brought not just 2024 prospects to Florida State, but also top players from future classes. 2025 Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Armondo Blount arrived in Tallahassee on Saturday to get a closer look at the Seminoles.
This was Blount’s first visit since the spring, and Florida State is among his favored schools. A big part of his interest: Fourth-year head coach Mike Norvell.
“They’re high,” Blount said of Florida State. “But I don’t really have any schools over or any schools under… It’s just different, like coach (Norvell’s) hype for his players.
“Like I said, last time when I came he was running with the (defensive) line. He was active, screaming, and that’s the type of energy I need around me.”

The five-star out of Miami Central not only loved the energy from Mike Norvell, but also had a great time learning from long-time Florida State defensive line coach Odell Haggins.
“Well I felt like I was at home, I was learning,” Blount said. “I was learning more about football and better ways to improve my season… I’m just taking it all in and learning.”
According to the 2025 On3 industry rankings, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect is the best player in Florida and the fourth-best recruit in the country.
As for where he is at in his recruitment, Blount says he is just enjoying the process. He plans to visit Miami, Alabama and Ohio State in the near future.
This recruitment — at least in the state of Florida — is gearing up to be an FSU-Miami battle. Blount even compared how the two schools coach after working out in the camp.
“They teach (at Florida State) how they teach at Miami,” he said. “So it’s like a home feeling”
Where FSU hopes to have an advantage is with linebackers coach and former Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon. Shannon and the Blount family have known each other for years.
“You know whats crazy is he’s close with my mom,” Blount said. “He’s known my mom since she was a kid, so I’ve got a close relationship with him… He knew her from track.”
The five-star prospect plans to get back to Florida State for a game this season. For the moment, Blount does not know which game weekend he will pick.
