Florida State Recruiting Insider: 4-star athlete Micahi Danzy, other visitors enjoy day with Seminoles

Florida State Recruiting Insider: 4-star athlete Micahi Danzy, other visitors enjoy day with Seminoles

Before breaking for Easter weekend, the Florida State football staff had to pack in as much talent as they could while hosting visitors for practice on Thursday.

Four-star athlete Micahi Danzy was among the many recruits on campus Thursday, and he was there not only to watch the Seminoles in action, but to learn about the Florida State track program as well.

“It was good,” the Tallahassee standout said. “It’s not only just football, but track. I wanted to learn about the academics. I went over stuff I want to major in.”

Track was a major part of Danzy’s visit, as he spent a good portion of his time before football practice meeting with Seminoles sprints coach Ricky Argro.

“He wanted to be more like a second dad to me, think less track and more life …,” Danzy said. “It told me how track is going to fit into football, and how I’m going to be able to do breakouts. They told me a lot.”

The Florida High standout says he hopes to compete in both sports in college, and he also likes how he might fit into the Seminoles’ offense.

“They kind of want to use me like [Lawrance] Toafili,” Danzy said. “I’m kind of taller, but I’m built. … We’re not short and stocky like other running backs. We’re just like fast. We can go and run some routes, we can do a lot of stuff.”

Danzy is rated the No. 7 athlete in the country and the 23rd-best player in Florida, according to On3. The speedster is listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds.

Florida State still stands high on Danzy’s board — he says the Seminoles are “still my top 3” — and he plans to take an official visit to FSU this summer. Other schools that he mentioned were Miami and Florida.

Recruits sound off about Florida State practice Thursday

Here are additional comments from some of the targets who attended FSU practice Thursday.

2025 Four-Star OL Peyton Joseph — “My day was great. Had a good time with Coach Atkins (offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Alex Atkins) in the meeting room. I got to be around the offensive line and see how they move everyday throughout — like these days, spring practices. I mean my day has been well.”

On Team Meetings: “I didn’t really know that the O-Linemen in the meeting, they have notebooks and they [take notes]. I’m going to start doing that in high school. I feel like that can help out. The whole entire group just coming together and blending together, I feel like that helps.”

On where FSU Stands: “Florida State stands No. 1.”

Other schools in the mix: Georgia, Alabama, Michigan and “a few others”

Three-Star LB Zavier Hamilton

“I had a lot of fun today. It was really nice to finally be able to sit down with Coach Shannon (linebackers coach Randy Shannon) in his office and just chop it up. I had a great time seeing the campus and stuff like that. It was a great day.”

On Practice: “It’s definitely different. I love the way they practice. Fast-paced, but at the same time they give them time to rest. At the end, they gave them time just to have fun and be competitive. I love that most.”

On Coach Shannon: “I just now really started talking to him again, really getting back into it, but I’ve always loved FSU and coming back. … Coach Shannon is a really good guy, and he’s going to tell you how it is 100 percent of the time, and I love that about him. … I like [how he interacts with players], I probably like that the most. He doesn’t hop into their chest — he’s going to take them aside and tell them what they did wrong. … They run a defense that translates to the NFL; that’s definitely something I want to be a part of.”

What he is looking for in a school: “I’m looking for culture, the area, the learning environment. I look for passion, and how the players react to the coaches.”

Will he take an official visit to FSU? “Most definitely … definitely up there. I love FSU. It’s a great place and it’s close to home. … I’m dropping my Top 4 on Monday. I’m looking to commit two weeks after that.”

Other schools: South Carolina, Auburn and Kansas “That’s what I’ve narrowed it down to.”

2025 Four-Star QB Cutter Boley

“We had a great day. … I definitely had a great time today.”

On QBs coach Tony Tokarz: “I really liked how he interacts with the players. … I could tell that they all really liked him and enjoyed being around him, so I really liked that. And I liked him on the field too. … You can really tell he’s a players’ coach. … We’re really close. I talk to him once or twice a week.”

Norvell’s message to him: “That I would be a really good fit for Florida State. He just thinks that overall no matter where I end up, I’ll be a great player, but I really liked talking to him. He’s a great coach.”

Where FSU Stands: “They’re definitely at the top, top half probably. … I’m coming out with a Top 10 next month.”

Other Schools Mentioned: Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State and Oregon. LSU and Clemson “could get in” with an offer.
