Florida State quarterback Trever Jackson plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Florida State quarterback Trever Jackson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Jackson spent one season with the program, taking a redshirt under head coach Mike Norvell. Four years of eligibility will remain for Jackson at his next destination.

Jackson played high school football at Winter Garden (FL) Jones, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 621 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

At one point, Ole Miss held a commitment from Jackson during the recruiting process. Other power conference foes were after him too. Most notably Missouri, Texas A&M, and UCLA. Florida State was able to hold all of them off, getting the in-state quarterback to sign.

“Seeing Jordan Travis, I came to a couple of their games, he plays a similar style as me,” Jackson said of his decision to play for Florida State. “And just the way they coach as well. They’re not gonna lie to you. They’re gonna have you here for a reason — what you’re here for, what you’re capable of. So I feel like it was one of those good reasons as well.”

Per Jackson’s official Florida State profile, he spent most of the season as the scout team quarterback. There is one appearance during the Seminoles’ win over Charleston Southern late in the year. Jackson threw just one pass and completed it for a total of two yards.
