Florida State ‘in a good spot’ for pair of 4-star RB targets

Florida State ‘in a good spot’ for pair of 4-star RB targets

Florida State has maintained a top-10 recruiting class through the summer and is poised to make a leap with some of its top targets left on the board this fall.

The Seminoles are still without a running back commit in the 2025 class, but both of their top targets remain on the board: Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County four-star Ousmane Kromah and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star Byron Louis.

It’ll be up to Mike Norvell and Co. to close the deal on one or both, but FSU insider Michael Langston likes where the ACC program stands with the 2024 season on deck.

“There’s two that they’ve been focusing on the whole cycle, they haven’t deviated from that plan. It’s Ousmane Kromah and Byron Louis, those have been the two guys,” Langston said on ‘The Inside Scoop’. “Overall, I think they’re trending in a good spot with both of them, actually.”

Decisions likely to come at different times for Kromah and Louis

Louis updated his recruitment with On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month, pointing toward a potential September commitment. FSU is well in the race, as are his other finalists, Georgia, Miami and Wisconsin.

The Noles are trending for the No. 15 RB in the nation, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Louis took his official visit to Tallahassee at the end of June and continues to feel strongly about the in-state program.

“Florida State wants me to make my own decision,” Louis told On3. “They tell me, if it is right, then it is right. Coach Mike Norvell believes Florida State is the best school for me, but he is not pressuring me and he wants me to make the best decision for me.”

Earlier this year, Kromah was viewed as a candidate to potentially come off the board before his senior season. That’s no longer the case, with the blue-chipper telling OMSpirit’s Zach Berry earlier this month that he’s simply eyeing “the perfect time” to make his decision.

It’s Auburn that’s currently trending in the RPM for the No. 4 RB and top-115 prospect, but the Seminoles have been right there and are a team to watch moving forward. He also took an OV to FSU in June and will likely return to campus before making a decision, according to Langston.

“Kromah they got on campus over the summer for one of the last visits and I think that’s just a place that has always resonated with him. The feeling I get from the FSU side is that they feel good about where things are with Ousmane, even though he’s probably not going to decide until October,” Langston said. “Probably going to go to a game at Georgia, definitely going to go to a game at FSU. That’s just one that they’ve stuck around, then they really, the last few months, have hammered it home and really surged back into this thing and I feel like they’re probably a team that is the team to watch.”

FSU’s 2025 class currently features just 13 commits, but ranks No. 10 in the nation and No. 2 in the ACC, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
