Florida St. DB Transfer Greedy Vance Commits to USC
USC hosted Florida State defensive back transfer Greedy Vance for a visit this past weekend. The Trojans are looking to add a few final touches to their 2024 football roster.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Vance began his college career at Louisville before transferring to Florida State ahead of the 2022 season. Vance recorded 34 tackles, five pass deflections and four interceptions in two years. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.
On Sunday afternoon Vance announced his commitment to USC after an impactful official visit.
USC Prediction
On Sunday morning WeAreSC learned the Trojans were in a strong spot to gain a commitment from Vance. On3’s Steve Wiltfong submitted the first USC prediction and I followed that shortly after.
USC and Kentucky were the two schools vance scheduled visits for Vance. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Vance has also received transfer offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Miami, Missouri, Virginia Tech and others.
The Trojans have already added four veteran transfers to their secondary this offseason. Cornerback John Humphrey and safety Kamari Ramsey came over from UCLA along with coordinator D’Anton Lynn. Cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson transferred from Mississippi State and safety Akili Arnold came in from Oregon State.
But when Tre’Quon Fegans entered the transfer portal, nickel became a spot where USC could use an additional body or someone to push for starter’s snaps. Veteran returner Jaylin Smith missed most of spring due to injury and USC doesn’t have another defensive back who has seen extensive time at nickel.
USC has a bit of a connection here in that defensive line coach Eric Henderson and Vance both attended Edna Karr High School in Louisiana.
