Florida is now leading for teammate of Gators commit

Almost exactly 24 hours ago, the Gators landed a commitment from 2024 Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney cornerback Teddy Foster. This came just under two months after secondary coach Corey Raymond extended the scholarship offer.

Now, Foster’s teammate in the 2025 class, cornerback Chris McCorkle, tells Gators Online he is favoring the Orange and Blue as well. Michigan State, West Virginia, Boston College and Purdue are some of the schools that have offered and are trailing Florida early on.

Like Foster, the 6-foot-1, 173-pound McCorkle was offered by the Gators in late May after Raymond dropped by for spring practice.

According to the On3 rankings, McCorkle is the 37th-ranked cornerback in his class. He is also a top-50 prospect in the talent-loaded Sunshine State.

“It’s been great (with UF). Communication has been on and off because, you know, they can’t do as much talking because I’m a 2025, but they still try,” said McCorkle.

“It was a big day for Teddy yesterday with him committing there; it was a big day for all of us. I am happy for him and he is definitely going to make a big impact on Florida. That is like a brother to me, a role model and a great person to look up to.”

Corey Raymond serves as McCorkle’s go-to contact

Although communication will be limited until Sept. 1, McCorkle is already well aware of Corey Raymond’s track record in the secondary. He knows a tremendous opportunity is on the table and is excited to strengthen that relationship over time.

“Coach Raymond is a great person; he is a great mentor. He’s definitely building something up at Florida,” said McCorkle.

The three-star prospect has yet to journey up to Gainesville for a visit but plans to do so very soon. Those that have played host include Florida State, Louisville, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

During the 2022 season, McCorkle accumulated 23 tackles (16 solo), eight pass deflections and two interceptions for the 4-7 Cougars.
