Florida is a ‘top priority’ for 4-star defensive back

Florida is a ‘top priority’ for 4-star defensive back

If all goes as planned, Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic 4-star athlete Jordan Thomas will be visiting the University of Florida during the season. Several home games are under consideration for the trip.

However, the 2026 prospect says he could actually be in Gainesville much sooner than that; in fact, it could be at the end of this month for the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Thomas is the No. 17 athlete and No. 229 rising junior.

“We do plan on getting down to Gainesville. It’s not set in stone which date yet, but we do plan on it,” said Thomas. “We plan to maybe visit during July when they have the BBQ.”

This is the second time Florida has offered

Thomas’ interest in visiting the Florida Gators comes after he was re-offered on June 18. He was initially offered last October, but that was when former secondary coach Corey Raymond was on staff.

“When I spoke to (assistant defensive backs) coach Beyah Rasool over the phone after the June 15 date when we could talk to coaches, it was very welcoming. It was great to get to know him,” Thomas told Gators Online.

“When I think of the Gators, I think the Swamp. I just think it’s a great atmosphere and stage to do big things and compete at the highest level.”

Gators secondary coach Will Harris has made himself available to the defensive back target as well.

“He also came to my school and helped offer me. We do have a good relationship,” Thomas said Harris.

Numerous schools are in play for Jordan Thomas

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Syracuse holds the slight advantage over Penn State.

Both programs have hosted Thomas on multiple occasions, while Ohio State and Miami have also received visits in recent months. They are part of an offer sheet featuring roughly 30 programs.

As for the Florida Gators, where do they fit into the mix for Thomas?

“Top priority,” the Under Armour All-American replied.

Thomas does not have a group of top programs but listed Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State as some of the schools in good shape early on.
