Florida Gators sitting ‘pretty high’ with 4-star RB target Waltez Clark

TAMPA, FLORIDA — Florida seems to be pushing all the right buttons with 4-star 2025 running back Waltez Clark of Plant High.
He’s clicking with the staff. The communication between the two sides is consistent. He has enjoyed his visits to Gainesville.
Clark said there is much to like about Florida.
“The facilities, the coaches, the colors- — I love the colors. My mom is a fan, too,” Clark said. “They’re pretty high.”
Clark, listed at 6-foot-1/2, 190 pounds, is believed to be a top Florida target. He’s currently the No. 12 running back in the country for the On3 Industry.
Clark has visited the Gators multiple times, most recently the last weekend in July for the program’s Grill in the Ville event.
“The communication they have is pretty good. I talk to them a lot and that’s like a big thing that I want to see in all the schools,” Clark said. “Communicating back and forth and building relationships. That’s why communicating is big to me. They told me I fit right in with their offense and I’m at the top of their (board).”
Florida’s Jabbar Juluke, the team’s running backs coach, is one person with whom Clark is particularly close.
“I love Coach Juluke — that’s my man,” Clark said. “His style — the way he carries himself … all that stuff. He’s just a good man. He coached some of the top — Leonard Fournette, a couple more running backs.”
Meanwhile, Clark said Gators coach Billy Napier also has been involved with his recruitment.
“He’s pretty hands on,” Clark said. “I talk to him a lot. Him, Coach Juluke and Coach (Sean) Spencer —I talk to them a lot.”
The coaching staff was one of the things Clark mentioned when asked what stands out with Florida.
Waltez Clark speaks highly of the Florida coaching staff
“They’ve all got something different about them, like unique,” Clark said. “”Everybody’s got their own style.”
According to Clark, he’s impressed by the Florida running backs currently on the roster, including Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson.
“They’re getting better every year,” Clark said. “So last year they were good. This year they’re even better. “
Florida State, Miami, Southern California, UCF and Toledo, where former Plant coach Robert Weiner is an assistant, are among the other schools he’s high on.
Is there a favorite?
“I ain’t gonna say,” Clark said. “I probably have one — I ain’t’ gonna say.”
Clark said he hopes to visit multiple schools this fall, but only one college game appears to be locked into his schedule at this time.
“I’m going to Florida-Florida State,” he said.
As for a commitment timeframe, Clark said a verbal will come “probably end of the year.”
Clark will be tracking Florida closely this fall.
“I want to see what their running backs got this year,” Clark said. “I know they’ve got something … so I want to see what they put on the stat line.”
