Florida Gators football recruiting Hot Board: Offense

Florida Gators football recruiting Hot Board: Offense

The Florida Gators enter the summer official visit season with five commitments in their 2025 recruiting class, which means there’s lots of work ahead for Billy Napier & Co. before the early signing period in December.

Who are the top targets and what is the Gators’ standing with each? The Hot Board has some of the answers. Below are the recruits we think (“think” being the key word) are the main prospects at each position and my guesses at Florida’s chances of signing them as of today.

Remember, this all my opinion. The folks at the Florida football complex may have a different take.

Quarterback (1)

Russell and Jones appear to be the top two Florida QB targets at the moment but both are committed to other schools. If Jones does in fact officially visit the Gators, their odds of flipping him probably go up. Alabama, Oregon and Texas are among the other schools to track with Russell. Hill seems to be leaning toward Memphis entering his Gators official. Gumino is new to Florida’s radar. UCLA recently offered him and he now will throw for the Gators on June 3.

Running backs (2)

With two backs committed, the Gators appear to be done at this position for the time being.

Receivers (4)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrent/UF%Josiah Abdullah (3)College Park, Ga.6/14–GATORS COMMITCJ Ingram (3)Hawthorne, Fla.TBD–55%Vernell Brown III (4)Orlando, Fla.6/14–50%Donovan Olugbode (4) Bradenton, Fla.6/14–40%Naeshaun Montgomery (4)Miami, Fla.5/31–40%Daylyn Upshaw (3)Phenix City, Ala.6/14–35%Cortez Mills (4)Homestead, Fla.6/07–30%Koby Howard (4) Hollywood, Fla. 11/16–25%Tyler Williams (3)Riverview, Fla.TBD–25%Caleb Cunningham (5)Ackerman, Miss.6/07–25%Dallas Wilson(5)Tampa, Fla.6/14–OREGON COMMIT25%Joshua Moore (4)Pembroke Pines, Fla.5/31–25%Jaime Ffrench (5)Jacksonville, Fla.––15%

Florida has one commitment at receiver and likely will try to add roughly three more (exact numbers aren’t known at this time). Ingram and Brown both are Florida legacies. The Gators appear to be trending with the former and have made up significant ground in recent months with the latter. For Brown, Florida and Florida State could be the two to watch at the moment. Olugbode is a player we think Florida is pushing hard for and the Gators seem to be very much in the game. This is an outstanding board, and the percentages probably will shift greatly following the upcoming official visits.

Tight ends (2)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrent/UF%Tae’shaun Gelsey (3) Jacksonville, Fla.5/31–55%Micah Jones (3)Madison, Miss.5/31–40%Caden Piening (3) Cincinnati, Ohio6/14–UCF COMMIT/40%Andrew Olesh (3) Center Valley, Pa.6/07–30%Hollis Davidson (3) Peachtree City, Ga.6/07–30%Hayden Bradley (3)Buford, Ga.––OLE MISS COMMIT/20%Elyiss Williams (5)Folkston, Ga.––GEORGIA COMMIT/5%

At this time, we’re hearing it’s likely the Gators sign two tight ends in the class (this stuff always is fluid, however). Gelsey, whom Florida offered just last week, will announce his college choice July 13 and it appears the Gators will be in the driver’s seat if they push this weekend. With Jones, Florida and LSU might be the front-runners. Piening is committed to UCF, but still plans to officially visit the Gators.

It’s unknown at this time how many linemen the Gators plan to sign. While they don’t currently have any commits for 2025, one prospect previously on the commit list — tackle Enoch Wangoy — reclassified and already has moved to Gainesville to join the 2024s. Meanwhile, the Gators parted ways with another commit — interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph. So it’s not like they’ve been swinging and missing. That said, those developments leave Florida with spots to fill. Dice, Addison and Thomas are three major targets to track as the Gators seem to be pursuing each extremely hard.
