Florida Gators ‘definitely moved up’ following official visit from DL Nnamdi Ogboko

It’s safe to say the University of Florida made a strong impression on North Carolina’s Nnamdi Ogboko this weekend, as the three-star prospect spent multiple days in Gainesville for an official visit.

Ogboko, who was offered by the Gators earlier this year while in town for an unofficial visit, is the No. 83 defensive lineman in the 2024 class.

“This weekend was great. They definitely moved up to one of my top schools, like, top three. Top three, I’m looking at South Carolina, Florida and Georgia,” Ogboko told Gators Online’s Keith Niebuhr and others.

Throughout the weekend, Ogboko was able to pick the brains of several players on the roster. One of them was emerging defensive tackle, Chris McClellan, who served as the rising senior’s player-host.

“He told me the program is changing and the program is getting way better,” said Ogboko.

As for the staff, Ogboko spent the majority of his time with defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Kali James Jr. Those relationships are very strong, especially with James, who prioritizes Ogboko on a daily basis.

“I really got to know coach James way more and coach Spencer. They are both some funny guys,” said Ogboko.

Another highlight of the weekend was watching additional prospects make arguably the most important decision of their lives. Four official visitors announced their commitment yesterday, including linebacker Aaron Chiles, who revealed his decision at dinner.

“That was cool. I talked to them after and they were all trying to get me to commit. It was fun. I did get a little temped (to commit), but I’m still just trying to go through my process,” said Ogboko.

Ogboko is approaching the recruiting finish line

Prior to setting foot in Gainesville this weekend, Ogboko took part in two additional official visits.

To kick off the month, the 6-foot-4, 335-pound defensive lineman traveled to Rutgers to meet with Greg Schiano’s staff. That was the first time visiting the Scarlet Knights. The following weekend, the North Carolina native made the short trip down to Columbia to meet with the Gamecocks.

At this time, the only other school with a confirmed official visit date is Georgia. That trip is locked in for next weekend, and if all goes planned, it will not be too long after when Ogboko makes a commitment himself.

“I feel like after Georgia, that will be one of my last officials. I was just trying to make my decision after I take my officials and all the visits I’ve been to. I’m going to write everything down and see what school fits best for me,” said Ogboko.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, UF is trending with odds north of 35 percent.
