Florida DL sets official visit to Alabama after offer from Nick Saban

D’Antre Robinson, three-star defensive lineman from Evans High School in Orlando, Florida, has more than 60 scholarship offers including the most recent one from the University of Alabama. Robinson earned the offer on Wednesday after participating in the Tide’s summer camp. He has a few big official visits this month, and has also scheduled an official visit to Alabama this fall.
“It felt good,” Robinson told BOL after his camp performance in Tuscaloosa. “It shows a lot of hard work has paid off. Coach (Nick) Saban said he watched my film, and that I am one of the top players in the country. He asked, ‘why are we not recruiting you yet?’”
Alabama’s area recruiter, Robert Gillespie, visited Robinson’s school during the spring. Robinson was not available to leave class during the visit even just for Coach Gillespie to view the 6-foot-3, 315-pound lineman from a distance. Alabama hoped he would attend camp despite the offers and heavy pursuit from other top programs.
Robinson described Alabama as “beautiful” after touring the campus and facilities on Tuesday. He participated in camp on Wednesday morning prior to meeting with Coach Saban. Robinson enjoyed working with the Tide’s defensive line coach.
“The camp was smooth,” he said. “They was a lot of conditioning. I did a lot of one-on-ones with Coach (Freddie) Roach. I really liked him. He moves fast. He is going to make sure you do it right, and not just go through the motions.

Robinson will return to Alabama in September
The central Florida recruit has official visits the next two weekends (Texas and Georgia). He took an official visit to Florida earlier this month. Robinson said he is also strongly considering LSU and Ohio State. Alabama is on the short list, and he will return for an official visit on September 9-10 (vs. Texas).
“I really like Alabama,” Robinson said after his first visit to Tuscaloosa this week. “They are big on developing players. They know how to take care of them. Just knowing all the people they have in the NFL to this day is very exciting.”
A decision is not expected any time soon. He intends to wait until at least the fall before a commitment. He is also working to graduate early and enroll in January.
“I want to feel like that would be the perfect program for me to get developed and feel at home,” Robinson said as far as what he is looking for in a school. “I also want to feel needed, not just wanted.”
Robinson said the best aspects of his game include his footwork, quickness off the ball and aggression. He hopes to continue improving his pad level.
