Five things: Why Kansas State added receiver Adonis Moise

Five things: Why Kansas State added receiver Adonis Moise

1.) The first Kansas State wide receiver commit of the class is Adonis Moise from the state of Florida. In fact, he hails from powerhouse IMG Academy. He was recently evaluated by On3 as a three-star prospect and also had offers from UCF, Kansas, Indiana, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh and Boston College.

2.) Moise was recruited vigorously and aggressively by K-State assistant Matthew Middleton. He locked onto the receiver and did not let up, which is saying something. He has waffled back and forth on a number of other receiver targets but not so for Moise. And Moise was eager to be a Wildcat. He moved his trip to Manhattan up two weeks just to take in the campus and see the coaches one more time before committing to Kansas State.

3.) K-State did take two receivers in the Class of 2024 in Trae Davis and Jacques Spradley-Demps. Does that mean they will take fewer or more in 2025? That remains to be seen. But what we do know is that they haven’t finished chasing them at this point. At least one more is on the agenda. The Wildcats host wideouts Isaiah Mizell and Gio Richardson this weekend.

4.) What is interesting, as others have pointed out, is that he was not really a known commodity to some recruiting services initially despite being at IMG Academy and earning a four-star distinction from ESPN. To be fair, and we realize it is a loaded program with Power Four prospects at every position, he was not a starter for his high school team as a junior. He might be as a senior, but it still isn’t a foregone conclusion for the new Kansas State commit.

5.) I always reserve the final point for when the subject can first make an impact on the field. What helps incoming K-State receivers from the Class of 2025 is that at least two significant contributors will be moving on from the position and likely more. Dante Cephas and Jadon Jackson will be out of eligibility. But Tre Spivey could be ascending, as well as Andre Davis, Spradley-Demps and/or Trae Davis. While I would assume that a redshirt would be likely for Moise (and I’m not super high on him yet as a prospect), something to keep in mind is that he will arrive in Manhattan a bit more advanced because of the program he is coming from in high school. IMG Academy will prepare him for what college is like and that transition should be faster for him because of it. Maybe his ceiling isn’t sky high, but his contribution could be felt sooner.
