Five-star QB Julian Sayin talks Alabama season, quarterbacks

Julian Sayin, five-star quarterback from Carlsbad High School in California, has breezed through the first half of his senior season with an undefeated start (5-0) and a near flawless individual performance. His team has a bye this week which has opened the door for him to return to Alabama for his one and only official visit.
“I am excited about getting back there,” Sayin said. “It should be a really good atmosphere. I know (Jalen) Milroe will get after it. I’m really looking forward to it.
“I definitely think ‘Bama takes it. I think Milroe and the offense will get the offense clicking on Saturday. Ole Miss is a good team. It will be a good game, but I expect us to come out with the win.”
Sayin noted he was recruited by Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and co-offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss Jr. His mom and sister will join him on this visit. His father will stay home due to a recent hip surgery.
This is Sayin’s second game experience. He was also in Tuscaloosa last November for the Tide’s win against Mississippi State shortly prior to announcing his commitment.

Jalen Milroe has earned the role as the Tide’s starting quarterback with Ty Simpson as the primary back-up. Sayin has watched each game, he attended practices in the spring and was around the team during the summer. He is close with several players, and looks forward to seeing how they respond after the struggles the last two weeks.
“I feel like all of those guys can play,” Sayin said. “They are all great dudes. I’ve met and hung out with all of them. I am going to be excited for whoever gets the start. Jalen is really talented. I think they will play to his strengths, and they’ll run the ball.
“It should be fun to see how they perform the rest of the season. I feel like the wide receivers have really improved. There are still things the team can improve, and I believe they will. Jalen has played well and has also responded well whenever he’s made a mistake.”

Bright future ahead at Alabama
Sayin spoke with Coach (Nick) Saban last week as the two discussed Alabama’s quarterback situation heading into the game against USF. He also spoke with offensive coordinator Tommy Rees earlier this week more just to confirm travel plans for this weekend.
“My relationship with Coach Rees has been really good,” he said. “We are just furthering our relationship and getting a better understanding of each other every time we talk. It’s been really good.”

The No. 1 quarterback in the country per On3 Sports and the On3 Industry Ranking (avg. of the four major recruiting sites) said he is not visiting other schools. A few programs still reach out to him, but they also know that Sayin is set on his commitment to Alabama.
He is looking forward to returning to the Capstone this weekend where he will connect with fellow commitments including ’25 five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams. Sayin has mainly focused on his senior season, but mentioned five-star OL Jordan Seaton as one prospect he hopes to add in the class.
“Things really good for the future,” Sayin said. “We definitely have a really talented class. The ’25 class is also off to a really good start especially with Ryan and Jamie Ffrench. You look at what they signed in ’23 with guys like Caleb Downs, Kadyn Proctor and Keon Keeley. It’s a bright future for sure.”

It’s been a great start to Sayin’s senior season. The No. 6 overall player in the On300 has completed 75-of-95 passing attempts (78.9%) with 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also has 17 rushing attempts for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
“Julian Sayin has lived up to his reputation as the most accurate quarterback in the cycle to this point,” said On3 Sports Scouting and Rankings Director Charles Power. “The Alabama pledge had the best showing on the summer camp circuit among blue-chip quarterbacks and has parlayed that play into his senior season.
“He’s show pinpoint location leading his Carlsbad (Calif.) High team to a 5-0 start. The game is moving slowly for Sayin. We’ve also seen Sayin show more improvisational ability early on this season- an element we were looking for him to improve upon during the final prep campaign. Saying was minted as a Five-Star Plus+ prospect during the summer.”
Sayin said the game has slowed down for him, has a complete understanding of his offense and on the same page with his offensive coordinator. He claims the two have such a great connection Sayin knows the playcall before its told. He has helped his team to an average win margin of 44 to 7.
He plans to arrive at Alabama in December to participate in bowl practices with his future team.
