Five-Star Plus+ PF Koa Peat to announce commitment tomorrow

Five-Star Plus+ PF Koa Peat to announce commitment tomorrow

One of the nation’s top 2025 basketball prospects is set to announce his college decision tomorrow.

On Wednesday evening, Gilbert (Ariz.) Perry Five-Star Plus+ power forward Koa Peat told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi that he will make his commitment Thursday on The Pat McAfee Show. Peat will choose between Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Houston and Texas.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder is the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 4 power forward in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Arizona is currently trending to keep Peat home, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). On3’s Joe Tipton logged a pick in favor of Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats on Jan. 3.

“Things are good with (Arizona). The last time I was down there, I think they played Duke. Even though they lost it was great to see the fans. The environment was crazy,” Peat told On3’s Jamie Shaw in January. “And Coach (Tommy) Lloyd is a great coach. He tells me all the time how much he believes in me. They tell me they’ve never had a player like me, with my versatility. They say I would kind of fit in the Pelle Larsson role. Really they throw a lot of names and clips at me, like Dalen Terry and some others.”

Peat dominated as a senior for Perry, leading the Pumas to a fourth state title in a row. He has been named a McDonald’s All-American and is one of the last top five-star recruits to make his decision public.

Koa Peat Scouting Summary

On3 writes this of Peat as a prospect:

“Koa Peat has a naturally strong frame, with long arms and broad shoulders. On the ball, Peat plays with a confidence in both the half and full court. He is a good rebounder and able to push the break in transition. With his lengthy frame, there is upside on defense, especially guarding off the ball. This summer, Peat showed a tendency to settle for jump shots. When getting downhill, he lacks counters off the bounce, and his hips look stiff, attacking mostly in straight lines. The form on the jump shot, the release specifically, looks clean and consistent, leading to the thought he could grow into being a shooting threat. Peat is young, with a 2007 birthday. His father and brother both play(ed) on the line in the NFL.”
