Five-Star Plus+ PF Caleb Wilson down to 12 schools, sets official visits

Caleb Wilson, a Five-Star Plus+ recruit in the 2025 class, has cut his list of schools down to 12: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCF, and USC.

The 6-foot-9 power forward out of Holy Innocents (GA) has scheduled the following official visits:

Alabama: September 6th

Kentucky: September 13th

Wilson has already taken official visits to Auburn, North Carolina, and Kentucky (previous staff). He’s also been on unofficial visits to Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Wilson is the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 2 power forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Wilson talks programs involved

In a previous interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Caleb Wilson discussed several of the schools recruiting him.

ARKANSAS: “I talk on a more consistent basis with Coach Calipari now that he is at Arkansas. He just told me that it is like he is going home. He is ready to get going at Arkansas and he is excited about what he can do there. It was crazy waking up that day and seeing on my phone that he left Kentucky, I thought it was a joke or something. It was definitely not something I thought I would see while I was in high school. He’s really been talking with me about developing me at a high level and developing me into an NBA player.”

AUBURN: “The visit was really good. Coach Bruce Pearl develops pros at a high level, especially forwards. We really talked about developing me at a high level. And that Georgia to Auburn pipeline is really strong. I watched a lot of Jabari Smith, I would go watch him play when I was in middle school. He was a really good player, could catch and shoot at a high level and defend.”

TENNESSEE: “When I went on my unofficial there their culture really stood out to me. Coach (Rick) Barnes really prides himself on defense and he is really good with his offense ideas and plays. Our relationship has continued to grow, we talk frequently, at least two or three times a week. I worked out with Dalton Knecht a couple of days ago. Coach set him up to do very well, and put him in good positions. Obviously, he is a really goo player too, but set him up to play really well.”

ALABAMA: “Their message to me is that they develop forwards at a high level. They recently had guys like Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney. Their play style also plays heavily into my thoughts on them. I feel like I would thrive in certain systems. Spacing the floor and getting up a lot of threes and finishing at the rim is very attractive to me.”

DUKE: “Coach (Chris) Carrawell, and Duke, are recruiting me right now. We talk maybe two or three times a month. He is a pretty cool guy. I like their message, that they develop fours at a high level, and their development. They like my game a lot, my versatility. They want people who can guard multiple positions. I talk with Coach (Emmanuel) Dildy and Coach (Jon) Scheyer too. I’ll probably visit them in the Fall. I want to focus on winning Peach Jam this summer. I’m looking forward to that. Cameron Indoor is a historic building, I want to see that. They say it’s like an institution. They were one of my dream offers, so I was excited when I got that offer last year.”

UNC: “They have a really rich basketball culture and they and Duke have the best rivalry in college basketball. I just really like their coaching style; Coach Hubert (Davis), even though he is a really nice guy, he holds his players accountable. They like my versatility, especially on defense. They talk a lot about defense there.”

Scouting Report

“Caleb Wilson has a great frame, good length and natural pop. He plays really well in a phone booth, efficient movements in tight spaces, shows the footwork to shake free with the ball in the half court. He needs to continue getting stronger, which will help his base and balance. He is explosive around the basket, has go-to comfort over his left shoulder with patience. He can push the break and plays with pace. He has a vast array of offensive moves, at multiple levels. He is still learning his body and still gaining strength, this will only help his consistency. Tracking as one of the top players in his class.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
