Five-Star Plus+ DL Williams Nwaneri sets commitment date, names top five schools

The race for Lee’s Summit (Mo.) Lee’s Summit North Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri has been a battle fans all over the country have kept tabs on. Now Nwaneri is ready to wrap things up.

Nwaneri, the No. 1 player in the 2024 On300, will make his college decision on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. CT in his high school. He’ll be choosing between Georgia, Missouri, Oregon, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

“I think I have a pretty good idea on where I’m going,” Nwaneri told On3. “My list has most definitely moved around the last few months. There have been a couple that have been at the top at points but taking the visits has given me a much clearer idea.”

Nwaneri noted that it was about two or three weeks ago when he made

For the school at the top of his list in his mind, Nwaneri said that his relationship and trust in the coaching staff at that school are why they lead for him. He noted comfortability as another factor and a place where he can see himself going and succeeding.

Of the schools in his top five, Nwaneri took official visits to Georgia (June 2), Oklahoma (June 9), Tennessee (June 16) and Missouri (June 23). He’s currently scheduled to take his official to Oregon in September but was also recently on campus for an unofficial visit.

“Getting back on campuses is always a good thing to get another feel for that place,” Nwaneri told On3 in early July. “Most of my visits, I had been to those spots more than 2 or 3 times so it didn’t really do anything major. For the ones I hadn’t been to as much, it definitely played a part.

…Before the official visits, I was more up in the air. The visits kind of cleared up some things things.”

Currently Oklahoma leads for Nwaneri in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The Sooners sit with a 55.9% chance to land his pledge while Georgia sits in second at 21.4% and Missouri in third. However, Nwaneri isn’t giving any hints on where he plans to commit.

In his mind, the decision is made and he’s ready for Aug. 14 to come and pass so he can focus on one more high school season.

“I feel really good about this,” Nwaneri said. “I can finally kind of relax, focus on the season and win a state title.”
