Five Most Important Recruits for Oregon to Land

Five Most Important Recruits for Oregon to Land

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks in recruiting. Admittedly it’s taken a bit of a backseat to the latest conference realignment news. However a number of the top recruits in the country have made or will make their college decisions ahead of September.

With the current Oregon class at 21 commits, room is getting tight. By no means is Oregon done and there is no longer a signing limit. But the reality is, Oregon doesn’t have a ton of room to sign a huge group and remain under the 85 scholarship cap which remains in place.

Below are the current top five targets Oregon needs to sign. Not that they will sign. But will continue to push hard for. Here is the latest with each.

4-Star LB Brayden Platt

Still an Oregon-Oklahoma battle and very close, according to everyone I talk to. With Oregon losing out on Justin Williams, the need to sign Platt is amplified. Not because Oregon has struck out at the position, but having 3 4-Star linebackers in this class is really going to add depth to this room in the future.

5-Star DL Aydin Breland

You just can’t lose the top linemen out West if you can avoid it. And Breland is certainly one of the best. Which is why he has attracted the attention of most major schools including SEC powers. Oregon is in a dog fight here and it’s unclear who leads. Georgia and now Texas A&M are pushing for the 5-Star. These figure to be the three at the top. Breland also hasn’t set a commitment date so who knows when he’ll make his college decision.

5-Star OT Brandon Baker

Pretty much the same as Breland above but with different players Meaning this one looks more like a Texas, Nebraska, Oregon battle at the moment. Georgia filled up and backed off. Baker isn’t set on a commitment date either so for Oregon you just have to keep ‘chopping wood.’

4-Star TE Roger Saleapaga

A new name that I’m not sure I’ve promoted enough. Oregon is kind of in a weird place with tight end recruiting. You have two scholarship commits currently and Kade Caton will enroll with the class too. Pugliano is battling back from an injury so we’ll see who he’s recovered this Fall in Medford. Saleapaga has taken the process slow and I know Oregon remains in the mix here.

3-Star EDGE Solomon Williams

As mentioned before, with Oregon missing out on Elijah Rushing, Solomon Williams becomes a key target. Not only because he’s really good, but also a big position of need. He’s got every offer but it looks like Oregon is battling Bama at the moment.
