First game of the Ben McCollum era is set

There will be a series of first’s for new Iowa head coach Ben McCollum. One of those boxes that would need to be checked off was done on Tuesday when it was announced that the first game of the McCollum era would take place on Tuesday November 4th when Iowa will host Robert Morris at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Start time and television designation will be announced at a later date.

The Colonials currently compete in the Horizon League and won the conference tournament this past season, defeating Youngstown State in the title game, 89-78. Overall they finished with a 26-9 record. They qualified for the NCAA Tournament and were given a 15th seed where they faced Alabama in their first game, 90-81.

Iowa is coming off a 17-16 season under former head coach Fran McCaffery. Most of the Iowa roster has either graduated or entered the transfer portal, so the Hawkeyes will have significantly different look when the season opens in early November.
