First game at Nebraska was a great experience for 2025 QB Alex Manske

First game at Nebraska was a great experience for 2025 QB Alex Manske

Algona (Iowa) junior quarterback Alex Manske picked up an offer from Nebraska after summer camp in June. He came back to Nebraska for a visit later that month and again in July. Nebraska’s No. 1 quarterback target in the 2025 class was in Lincoln this weekend for his first game day experience under the lights of Memorial Stadium. Manske wanted to get out there and make some throws.

“That was my first Nebraska game,” Manske said. “I wanted to see the stadium filled up. I have been to Nebraska a few times, and I have been in it (the stadium), but I have never seen it filled up. The light show going into the fourth quarter was really cool.”

The Nebraska offense was being led by a quarterback making his first start on Saturday night. The Nebraska offense struggled in the first half but Manske noticed they really got rolling later in the game.

“I thought it was cool watching the game. They struggled a bit at first, but towards the end, they got things going. They kept their foot on the gas. It was really cool to see that.

“There were definitely some throws that I was like, ‘Yeah!’. I just want to go out there and make that throw right now and go play.”

Getting a lot of time with the coaching staff on game days can be challenging. The Nebraska coaches made a point of seeing all the recruits this weekend. Manske said he spoke with his position coach and the head coach before the game on Saturday night.

“Before the game, I got to meet with coach Satterfield for a couple of minutes, and then I got to talk with coach Matt Rhule before the game. After the game, I went into the locker room and talked to all of them again. We talked to some of the players, some of the quarterbacks, and Haarberg. It was pretty cool.”

Manske plans to see games at a few schools, and then he says he wants to return to Nebraska. Manske is looking to decide between the end of his season and spring.

“I am going to a few different schools,” Manske said. “I will go to Kansas State, Iowa, and Minnesota, but after that, I may be coming back (to Nebraska) for another game or two. It was a great experience.”
