Here’s more on the commitment of Taylor and what it means for Nebraska.
1. Taylor is a long, rangy athlete at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. He could play defensive back or wide receiver at the next level. The Huskers like him on defense.
2. Over the last year, Taylor has been a well-traveled recruit. The On3 database tracks that he’s taken 16 different recruiting visits dating back to Sept. 10, 2022. He took four confirmed trips to Duke. Before his NU official visit, Taylor took official visits to Rutgers and East Carolina.
3. Taylor had 10 confirmed offers. Nebraska and Rutgers were his only two confirmed Power Five offers.
4. When you look at the type of defensive backs Evan Cooper has recruited at Nebraska, they all are very similar to Taylor. Cooper likes versatile athletes who can move around in the back end and develop.
5. As a junior, Taylor had 38 catches for 528 yards and eight touchdowns as a wide receiver. He also had one rushing touchdown. In 2021, Taylor had 21 tackles, three TFLs, four interceptions and six pass break-ups. In 2022, he had one interception and 10 tackles. He runs 4.53 in the 40-yard dash and carries a 3.7 GPA in the classroom.
6. Taylor is the first high school recruit to commit to the Huskers from North Carolina since 2002. That year, NU signed quarterback Curt Dukes and defensive lineman Brandon Greeson.
7. With the addition of Taylor, eight different states are now represented in NU’s 2023 recruiting class. You also wonder where they are overall with their defensive back numbers and how many more spots they might have there.
