Entrance Interview: Purdue 2024 WR Donovan Hamilton
Better late than never. That’s how WR Donovan Hamilton sees it, as the Fishers, Ind., Hamilton Southeastern High product was one of the final pieces to Purdue’s 2024 recruiting class.
The 6-4 Hamilton won the Mr. Football position award in Indiana this past season, making 47 catches for 934 yards and 11 touchdowns in helping Hamilton Southeastern to a 9-3 record. He also rushed for 65 yards and averaged 17.3 yards on seven punt returns, returning one for a TD. Hamilton finished his high school career with 102 receptions for 1,841 yards and 21 TDs.
Hamilton did not receive a Power 5 offer until late September of his senior season. A big reason for him being a late-bloomer: Hamilton missed his sophomore season with a broken hand.
Donovan is the son of former Notre Dame defensive lineman Brian Hamilton, who played for the Fighting Irish in the early ‘90s. Hamilton went on to play in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons. Hamilton’s older sister, Amaya, was a 2019 Indiana Girls Basketball All-Star and played at Duquesne.
