Elite WR Bryant Wesco goes in-depth on upcoming USC OV, other schools receiving visits
2024 Midlothian (Tex.) four-star wide receiver and recent USC offer Bryant Wesco will make his way to Los Angeles at the end of this week for an official visit to the Trojans.
I made a trip out to Midlothian High today to see Wesco in spring practices and talk with him to get the details on his upcoming visit. Wesco talked about his newly minted relationship with USC and what he is hoping to see on his visit.
Wesco also touches on other schools he is officially visiting.
“How is your relationship at USC with their staff?”
“I’ve been talking with them for like two, three weeks. Coach Simmons is a really great person. I’ve been more recent heavy contact with him probably the most out of all the coaches. We’ve been talking every day and I’ve been getting to know him and he’s been getting to know me as a person and as a football player and him as a coach. We’re just building up the relationship,” Wesco said.
“I really wanted to get up there and see USC and they said they can get me up there in May so I said ‘say less’, let me get up there.”
“What are you looking to experience on your visit?”
“I’m just looking for a great program to show me what they got. Nothing too specific, it’s USC, so it’s all going to be nice, but I’m just trying to look at how they run their program and how they take care of their players and all that.”
“What’s your thoughts on Lincoln Riley and his offensive prowess?”
“He’s a great coach, you know, back at Oklahoma, and then whenever he went over to USC, bringing all those players over with him, that shows they had high expectations and respect for him. And I know that he is a great coach and great offensive coach that just utilizes every player on the field to the best of their abilities.”
“What are the main things you look for in a school in this process?”
“I’m looking for a school that’s willing to help me build me more as a man and help me set up for careers after college, whether if I make it to the NFL or not. I’m hoping that I do and working for it, but, you know, setting me up for after school. And I’m looking for a school that has a receiver coach that has played at the highest levels as a receiver or coached at the highest level as a receiver so he can help me get to that point. And I want a school that has a great reputation.”
“Good offensive coordinator is one of the biggest things too, because, you know, you got to have an offensive coordinator who will put the ball in the hands of the receivers. Someone who trusts the receivers, let them go make plays, let them show their athletic ability. I mean I want a QB that can get the ball to receivers, but not really thinking heavy on the QB because as long as the QB can throw a little bit, I’ll be fine.”
Other schools receiving OV’s from Wesco
Clemson: “Clemson itself, they have a great program. They have a great system going on with their players and how they always take care of their guys.”
LSU: “I like Coach Hankton a lot. He’s a great coach and I like their past success with building up receivers and getting ’em to the league.”
TCU: “I like Coach Kelly and the way that he is a great developer. The way he developed Quinton Johnson and the upcoming receivers out of there.”
Tennessee: “The recent success they had from Jalin Hyatt. And I think that they got big seasons coming up in the next few years and I’d like to be a part of that and help them get to that point too.”
