Elite OT Jordan Seaton impressed with first visit to Tennessee
Five-star IMG Academy offensive tackle Jordan Seaton made the trip to Knoxville on Saturday night, and he came away impressed with what he saw from the Vols. He recapped the visit and much more with Volquest.
“I thought the game was electric and energizing,” Seaton told Volquest. “It put a good first step for the Vols to see them come out with this dominating win over the Gamecocks. This was definitely an eye-opener. Up front, they were impressive.”
Coming into the game, Seaton had heard plenty of positives about Tennessee’s game day atmosphere and it lived up to his expectations.
“People were telling me this was going to be one of the more elite games I have been to,” Seaton said. “It stood up. It was electrifying. I don’t think I have been to a game this loud in my life, so that was definitely a plus. I like to play in front of a good crowd.”
Seaton enjoyed the environment, but he was always going to focus on how the offensive line played, and Tennessee impressed on this front on Saturday night.
“John Campbell, No.74, he is a guy,” Seaton said of what stood out about the play of the offensive line. “If you don’t know that he is a guy, then you don’t know anything about football. He was dominating at Miami, but to show it on this level at the SEC is different. That shows that Coach Elarbee knows his stuff. Spending more time with him and coach Heupel lately, they know football, they breathe football and they live football. So I would like to play for a coach like that.”
During the Saturday visit, Seaton also got plenty of time with Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel.
“Coach Heupel almost ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner with me, and that time was very good for us,” Seaton said of the time spent with Heupel. “He is not going to tell me the things I want to hear. When I came here, we went over my film and things I could do better. There wasn’t a lot of mistakes because he calls me one of the best athletes he has ever seen coming out of high school, so as far as technique wise, I can always get better. He was just pointing out the little things that can make my game even more dominate. I like that because he is not a yes man.
The visit overall impressed Seaton and exceeded his expectations.
“I really like everything about Tennessee,” Seaton added. “The visit was amazing. The expectations were set high but it was everything I thought it would be plus more.”
He has not locked in a date officially, but there is a strong chance he will be back to Tennessee for an official visit at some point. While he would not rule out another game day, he would not mind waiting until later in the cycle to spend more time with the coaches.
“Honestly, when I look back at everything and review it, if I feel like I want to come back for a game environment, I will, but I would like to spend more time with the coaches,” the elite prospect said. “Just because we spent a lot of time but you can never spend too much time.”
The Tennessee coaches are not the only one recruiting the five-star talent, as he has hit it off with four-star Vol commit Boo Carter. The two spent a lot of time together on Saturday and Seaton enjoys the pitch from Carter.
“Boo Carter is my guy,” Seaton said of. “He keeps it real and is a real guy. He says he needs me and this program needs me. Like what coach Elarbee did with Darnell Wright, he was another five-star prospect, so seeing his yearly development is good. If he gets another five-star prospect like me, then maybe I can be round one, pick one, because he was round one pick ten.”
