Elite On300 LB Jonah Williams returns to Texas A&M for the spring game
Elite On300 linebacker Jonah Williams has been getting to explore several of the chief in-state contenders of late, with Texas A&M getting consecutive opportunities with one of the best defenders in the entire country to open the month of April.
Williams, who was on campus in College Station for the first time on the first weekend of April, returned for the Aggies’ spring game on Saturday.
Williams, the No. 1 linebacker in the On300 for next year’s recruiting class out of Galveston (Texas) Ball High School right outside of Houston, relished another visit to nearby Texas A&M.
“It was great I can’t lie,” Williams told On3 after the visit.
“From talking with all of the coaches and seeing just the environment of College Station as a whole, it was a great success,” the elite hybrid defender continued. “Everyone is so supportive of the team there.”
Texas A&M visit checked the boxes for Williams
The spring game was an eye-opener for the 6-foot-3, 200-pound hybrid safety/linebacker.
The Texas A&M coaching staff rolled out the red carpet for the top-25 soon-to-be junior, who appreciated the energy in and around the program on Saturday.
“From the minute when I stepped on campus, the atmosphere was live,” Williams said. “So far from what I’ve seen, everything about the college was great overall.”
The Aggies feature several former high school All-Americans on the defensive side of the ball. Williams kept close tabs on the defenders at the second level and back deep at safety.
All things are pointing up for Texas A&M with one of the state’s best in 2025.
“I liked how they ran their defense,” Williams explained. “I try to compare it to the defense that my school runs to see how I would fit into it and play, and I think I would be a good fit in their scheme.”
Aggies make a move with Williams after two April visits
The Galveston (Texas) Ball blue-chipper has checked out Houston, Texas and now Texas A&M on two occasions midway through the spring, and expects to dip more into his out-of-state contenders down the road.
Williams has family ties to the Cougars and has family in Austin. Houston and Texas — and now the Aggies — have established themselves as contenders.
“They definitely moved up on the list of my top schools,” he noted.
Williams checks in as the No. 25 overall player in the country for the 2025 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
