Elite Alabama ATH commit Darrell Johnson sets three official visits

Eastman (Ga.) Dodge County four-star athlete Darrell “Duke” Johnson came off the board on March 20, committing to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama.

Johnson remains solid in that pledge and has set his official visit date with the Crimson Tide for the weekend of June 7. He’ll take a couple of other visits prior to that weekend, however. He tells On3 he’s planning to visit Tennessee this weekend and has also locked in official visits with UCF (May 31) and Auburn (June 14).

Teams have continued to recruit the 6-foot-1, 200-pound playmaker. He was back at Auburn at the end of March and also recently visited Florida State. Alabama hasn’t taken the foot off the gas either, as defensive coordinator Kane Wommack and defensive backs coach Colin Hitschler visited Johnson at his school earlier this month. He was back in Tuscaloosa in April, too.

This weekend, Johnson will make his way to Rocky Top for the Vols’ big 865 Live event that is bringing in a heap of elite prospects. An official visit with Tennessee later on is not off the table for Johnson.

He is the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 2 athlete in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Georgia.

“It’s like a dream that’s come true,” Johnson told On3 upon his commitment to the Tide. “Where I’m from, people don’t go to Bama.”
