Elite 2025 QB George MacIntyre breaks down contenders in his recruitment

Nashville (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy four-star quarterback George MacIntyre doesn’t have any plans to shut down his recruitment any time soon.

But the 13 overall prospect and No. 2 passer in the 2025 class does have a few schools that are standing out his recruitment right now.

Among the more than 30 offers he has already received as a high school junior, a trio of SEC programs have made strong impressions: Alabama, LSU and Tennessee. That doesn’t mean he’s only considering those schools, and in fact would like to get out to a game at UCLA this fall.

Alabama has made him a top priority

MacIntyre took a handful of visits during the spring and summer, including two to Tuscaloosa, and he’ll be back there this weekend as the Crimson Tide host Texas.

“I feel like Alabama has done a really good job ever since Coach Rees gotten the job there,” he told On3’s Josh Newberg on the Inside Scoop recruiting show. “We’ve been on the phone quite a bit. And I’ve been down there a couple times since. Being able to talk to Coach Saban and all the resources they have there, they have a lot of big-time coaches. It’s going to be fun down there.”

The Crimson Tide have offered a handful of other quarterbacks in the cycle, but have made MacIntyre but one of their top priorities, if not No. 1.

In-state Tennessee is all-in on MacIntyre

Alabama’s SEC rival also has their eyes on MacIntyre, the top quarterback in the state of Tennessee regardless of classification. What Josh Heupel and his coaching staff have done in turning around the program in a short amount of time has him excited about the Vols’ future.

“I think I’ve seen what Tennessee has done with the ’24 class, kind of locking down the state,” he said. “All the guys that they wanted to get, they got mostly all of them. So that’s impressive for me to see. And then being an in-state kid and growing up, I wouldn’t say I’m a Tennessee fan but I’ve always watched from afar.

… And seeing the change from when they were bad to when they were good, and seeing how special that fan base can be when they’re good like they are now, it’s definitely really cool.”

MacIntyre was back at Tennessee for the team’s home opener last weekend and is looking to return when the Vols host Texas A&M on October 14.

LSU’s family environment is appealing

The 6-foot-5, 185-pounder also spent multiple days this summer at LSU, where he has developed a strong connection with quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan.

“Coach Sloan, he’s one of the best out there. He’s a great recruiter, great coach, great guy,” MacIntyre said. “And I’ve really enjoyed being at LSU. I’ve got a couple friends down there now that are also recruits and a couple are committed. It’s been great going down there and I’ve talked to Coach Kelly quite a bit. It’s kind of a family feel with their staff.”

MacIntyre also has plans to return to Baton Rouge for a night game this fall when the Tigers host Arkansas Sept. 23.

As it stands now though, MacIntyre isn’t in any rush to cut down his list officially or make a commitment. He wants to make one decision — the right one — and says he will take as long as he needs to find that school.

“As far as releasing a list, I’d say I’m not going to do it for a while,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter what’s out on Twitter, it matters more what’s in my heart and stuff like that.”

When that time does come though, he knows what he wants in the school of his choosing.

“I would say development is a big part of it and a family feel as well,” he said. “The locker room and are they on a winning trajectory where they’re either going to start winning or keep winning? It’s a lot easier to do when you’re winning.”
