Elite 2025 cornerback Ben Hanks talks Miami interest

There’s a strong argument to be made that Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington 2025 cornerback Ben Hanks is the top defensive back in Florida after the four-star prospect showed out at a pair of Miami 7-on-7 tournaments last month, and the Hurricanes are on his radar early.
Hanks has been to campus three times in 2023 — once for an unofficial visit to Coral Gables March 21 and twice for the Hurricanes’ two 7-on-7 tournaments in June — and is being recruited by Miami running backs coach Tim Harris Jr., whose father is the head coach at Booker T. The 6-foot-1 recruit is the No. 112 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 11 cornerback in the 2023 class.
He already holds offers to Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Florida and Michigan, among others.
Hanks said his contact with the Hurricanes coaching staff has been limited so far but believes it’s possible he’ll hear from Miami more as the fall football season approaches. He talks to the Canes’ staff roughly once a week.

“I’d say Alabama, Georgia, Florida, (Miami), Florida State, Louisville (are the top schools),” Hanks said.
So what does Miami need to do to climb on his list?
“Keep doing what they’re doing,” Hanks said. “That’s it.”
CaneSport’s Take
Hanks is a truly elite cornerback with every trait of a top defensive back prospect: long, athletic, physical, aggressive and intimidated by no one.
Miami secondary coach Jahmile Addae and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry both watched him closely both times he came to campus in June and smiled at a handful of plays he made. Hanks locked down nearly every receiver he faced and earned plenty of respect from 2025 four-star receivers like Waden Charles, who said he believed Hanks was the best cornerback he faced at one of Miami’s summer camps.
Hanks’ strength shouldn’t be underestimated either, particularly given his ability to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and reroute receivers. Expect him to have a major season this fall and for his stock to only continue to rise as he develops.
