Elias Rudolph gives his impression following Hurricanes official visit: ‘I love Miami’

This past weekend, the Miami Hurricanes got Deerfield Beach (Fla.) four-star linebacker Elias Rudolph on campus for an official visit as they continue to try to establish themselves as a true contender to land the South Florida native.
Miami entered the picture for Rudolph late, offering the 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker and No. 293 overall prospect in May. But the Hurricanes have been in constant communication with Rudolph and have given themselves a real shot with the four-star linebacker. Rudolph will take one final official visit to Ohio State next weekend before announcing his commitment July 3.
“Everything went great,” Rudolph told CaneSport. “Great visit, great experience, great coaches. I love Miami.”
Miami was fourth out of the four schools to receive official visits from Rudolph heading into the weekend — Pitt, Michigan, Miami and Ohio State — but the Hurricanes have fought their way into contention for the four-star linebacker and now will have a real opportunity to keep the local talent in South Florida.
Miami co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor has played a substantial role in Rudolph’s recruitment as the Hurricanes look at him as a potential JACK linebacker.
“They definitely made a huge impact on what I think about the Hurricanes and what I think about the schools that are actively (recruiting) me,” Rudolph said. “(This weekend) definitely made a huge impact. The real shot for Miami was actually getting me to set up a visit, so now I’m waiting on my opportunities. They did their thing.”
Rudolph said he’s not sure what Miami needs to do to continue to climb on his radar following this weekend’s official visit and said he’ll need to “get to the drawing board” to figure things out following all of his official visits.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan holds a commanding lead, pacing all programs with an 89.4% probability of landing Rudolph’s commitment. Sitting in the third spot are the Hurricanes, who hold just a 1.7% chance according to the RPM.
CaneSport’s Take
Half of Miami’s battle with Rudolph was simply convincing him to take an official visit to Coral Gables to begin with. But now that the Hurricanes have cleared that obstacle, Miami has worked its way firmly into contention.
The Canes will need to continue recruiting Rudolph with the same intensity they’ve recruited him with over the last several months to hold off their Big Ten competition and Pittsburgh.
