Dylan Raiola commits to Georgia: Social media reacts

The Georgia Bulldogs have landed the nation’s No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2024. Five-star-plus quarterback Dylan Raiola from Phoenix, Ariz. (Pinnacle H.S.) announced his long-awaited commitment to Kirby Smart and company mid-day Monday.

With the commitment has come plenty of excitement surrounding Georgia – as if there already wasn’t enough. New offensive coordinator Mike Bobo stepped in right away and made major progress for the Bulldogs on Raiola given his connections to Matthew Stafford – an NFL teammate of Dylan’s father Dominick and a former quarterback of Bobo’s from his first go-around in Athens.

Raiola joins a Georgia class that’s already ranked No. 1 in the country. With the likes of five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, fellow defensive standouts Demarcus Riddick, Jaylen Heyward and Peyton Woodyard already on board – plus many offensive weapons for Raiola to work with – the future is BRIGHT for the Bulldogs.

Those aren’t the only recruits whose attention have been caught by Raiola’s commitment. A fellow Phoenix native and current Georgia recruit Christian Clark shared a nice “GoDawgs!” on Twitter while five-star wide receiver Ohio State commit Jeremiah Smith, who overlapped with Raiola briefly as a Buckeye pledge and plans to be in Athens this weekend, gave his thoughts to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.

Smith also tweeted an emoji showing that he’s left thinking about his options. The tweet has since been deleted, but Smith says it’s all just for fun. Guess we’ll have to wait and see whether it is “just having fun” or if anything comes out of Raiola’s commitment and his visit to Athens over the next couple of weeks/months.

I’m just having fun

Raiola chose Georgia over the likes of USC and Nebraska, both of whom he had visited several times. Former Cornhusker linebacker and NFL veteran Will Compton was live on his Barstool Bussin’ with the Boys podcast and shared thoughts immediately. Enjoy Compton’s unfiltered and clearly frustrated thoughts with some colorful language.

The DawgsHQ crew also jumped on the airwaves of YouTube right after the commitment came down. Head on over to our YouTube channel – and be sure to like and subscribe while there! – to see what we had to say.
