Duke Scott feels like part of the Pack during NC State official visit

Duke Scott feels like part of the Pack during NC State official visit

Duke Scott picked NC State over Wake Forest and Rutgers earlier this year, and the three-star running back remains completely committed to the program. The Wolfpack welcomed him to campus for the third time this year on a June 16-18 official visit.

He caught up with TheWolfpacker.com after his trip and talked about his detailed discussions with running backs coach Todd Goebbel, the bonds he built with the other commits and his time around campus, which all reaffirmed his love for NC State.

Even though he still has months until arriving on campus in January, he already feels extremely comfortable on campus.

“It felt very welcoming, not only from the coaches but also the players that are already there,” Scott said. “Going up there as a commit, they just helped make me feel at home, like I belonged there and almost as if I’m already part of the team.”

The three-star running back from Stockbridge, Georgia, spent some time with head coach Dave Doeren during the visit and said their conversations were very relaxed.

“He was just telling us how much he enjoys us being up there and how glad he is to have us,” Scott said.

Scott also further strengthened his relationship with Goebbel, who has made him a clear priority for months.

“I got to talk to him on a deeper level, not only football but personal life and all of that good stuff,” Scott said.

Several class of 2024 commits— defensive back Asaad Brown II, quarterback Cedrick Bailey Jr. and safety Brody Barnhardt. He said they all created a solid connection during their time in Raleigh.

Freshman running back Kendrick Raphael hosted Scott. The Wolfpack commit left campus with a very positive impression of his future teammates.

“All of them were cool people,” Scott said. “We just had a great time, had fun and I enjoyed it a lot.”

As soon as he returned to campus in March, his second trip to NC State, Scott knew the Wolfpack could be the right program for him. Spending more time around the university helped confirm those feelings.

“Being on campus, it really just opened my eyes a little bit more,” Scott said. “I’ve seen it before, but we went in-depth a little bit, and it just made me realize why I love the school.”

Scott has a really genuine connection with the program, and he made sure he talked to offensive linemen Robby Martin, Trent Mitchell and Marcus Mascoll, about blocking for him in Raleigh while on their visits together.

“My main focus when I was there was just to get some of those big guys to tip over the edge,” Scott said.

The running back hopes to return to Raleigh in July but, if he is not able to make it due to his high school football schedule, he will stop by for multiple game days in the fall.
