Drake London Gets Plaque on USC’s All-American Walk

Drake London was back on the USC campus recently and was able to view his plaque that is now displayed on USC’s Football All-American Walk that leads from the McKay Center out toward the USC football practice fields. Players can see the standout history of USC football and will often tap one or more of the plaques as they make their way out to practice.

London was one of the bright spots on USC’s 2021 team. He played in just seven and a half games that year after suffering a broken ankle just before halftime against Arizona. Still, he finished the year with 88 receptions for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. He was on pace to break multiple single-season USC receiving records, including receptions and receiving yards. Marqise Lee holds both of those with 118 receptions for 1,721 yards in 2012.

London and Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree are the only Power 5 players to record 88 receptions through eight games (another record London would solely own if not for the injury). For his efforts, London was named a First-Team All-American by Pro Football Focus and a second-team selection by the Football Writers and Walter Camp. He was also the 2021 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.

“It’s surreal,” London said. “Coming out here everyday at practice and just seeing this wall grow as my career continued here. You want to be something great when you get here. And to be great, you’ve got to be a part of this wall. I set my goal and it’s crazy to be cemented, literally. It’s really, really cool that I can pat myself.”

London became USC’s 170th All-American and was taken with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He finished his USC career with 160 receptions for 2,153 yards and 15 touchdowns. And he produced that despite being limited to just 27 games due to the shortened 2020 season and his injury in 2021.

But the All-American Walk wasn’t the only place London visited while on campus. He began his USC career as a two-sport athlete, playing football and basketball. London (along with quarterback Caleb Williams) made sure to drop by a USC basketball practice to check out true freshmen Isaiah Collier and Bronny James.
