Dillon Gabriel sings Morgan Wallen song while reflecting on transfer journey

Dillon Gabriel sings Morgan Wallen song while reflecting on transfer journey

Following a thrilling 32-31 win over No. 2 Ohio State, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel sat in his post-game press conference and was asked a question about playing on three different teams, from coast to coast.

Picking up on the coast to coast line, he then began humming a Morgan Wallen tune, ’98 Braves.

It was a segue into his answer, which showed a lot of maturity.

“You know, I would just say you appreciate it year to year,” Gabriel said. “Each team is different. Each place is different and unique, so you appreciate that and the difference.”

Dillon Gabriel spent the first three years of his career at UCF, where he had two monster seasons and helped the Knights put together a 25-11 record and had plenty of success.

He then headed to Oklahoma, where he spent two years and went 10-8, with considerably less success, mostly through no fault of his own.

Now he’s at Oregon, where the Ducks are undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the country. Keep holding serve over the course of the second half of the season and Oregon will be a College Football Playoff team.

So yeah, it’s been quite the journey.

“I think I’ve learned a bunch at each stop and more importantly who I am as a person,” Dillon Gabriel said. “And there’s real development in that as a player, but also as a person through those times. I just now at this point in my career appreciate where I’m at: the present. The people that work so hard to allow us to do what we do. I never take a day for granted and that’s because I know how hard it is to do what we do, as well, and the time we put in and the grind.

“But that’s something I love and have been addicted to from the beginning. It’s kind of my way of living. To answer your question, I’ve loved every bit of it.”

Dillon Gabriel is coming off arguably his best game of the season, a terrific showing against the Buckeyes.

He’s now thrown for 1,790 yards and 13 touchdowns, against just three interceptions. He’s also run for 103 yards and four scores.

The talented Oregon quarterback will be back in action on Friday at Purdue, with a game that kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
