Dick’s Sporting Goods gives special brand boxes to Notre Dame seniors ahead of All Fight campaign

Seniors on the Notre Dame football team received a special gift on Monday. To kick off Notre Dame’s “All Fight” campaign, Dick’s Sporting Goods gave out brand boxes to Notre Dame seniors.

The boxes included shirts and a hat with the words “All Fight” on them.

“All Fight” is the rallying cry for Notre Dame athletics heading into the 2023-24 school year. The Irish are obviously hopeful that it will be a big one for the athletics department.

To go along with the launch of the campaign, Notre Dame also released a video to get fans fired up.

The video shows highlights of Notre Dame football, volleyball, women’s basketball and other sports, with a narrator talking about what it takes to be great.

“The Fighting Irish — fighting for each other, for ourselves, for victory. It’s in our name, our blood. It’s who we are,” the narrator says. “We choose the path of challenge, not comfort… and when the world’s eyes are upon us, we will be prepared. These are the moments we’re made for, because glory is never given, only earned. At Notre Dame, we’re all grit, all heart, all hustle, and we’re all fight.”

Notre Dame will kick off the 2023 college football season in less than two weeks when the Irish face Navy in Dublin, Ireland. The home opener for Notre Dame comes Sept. 2 when the Irish host Tennessee State.

Marcus Freeman considers how to develop backup quarterbacks during fall camp

Speaking of Notre Dame seniors, Marcus Freeman is set at quarterback with Sam Hartman. However, that doesn’t mean the backup quarterbacks don’t need attention.

Steve Angeli and Kenny Minchey are battling for the backup spot behind Hartman, but Freeman’s new philosophy at Notre Dame is to create competition and make sure guys as far down as third string get quality reps. God forbid Hartman goes down with an injury, one of Angeli or Minchey needs to be ready.

Freeman made it a point to have practice reps scripted for the “threes.”

“When you have a quarterback in certain positions, especially the threes that need the valuable reps, you have to script threes in there,” Freeman said. “And that’s something in the past that I’ve said, ‘Alright, we’re good on the threes. Hey, we’ll get them later. We’ll get them after practice.’

“We’ve had a lot of reps with our threes because we have not just at the corner position, we have guys at the D-line, the O-line that have to be able to show us what they can do and we got to give him a chance to develop.”

So far, so good for Freeman when he took a look at the backup quarterbacks.

“So I’ve seen a lot of good out of Steve and Kenny, you know? I think coach Gino Guidugli and Gerad Parker have done a great job of getting those guys to understand what the scheme is really how to perform. Both of them performed really well today. Really, really well.”
