Deion Sanders compares Colorado to ‘the trailer of a movie you’re seeing’

If this season is only a sneak peek of what’s to come for Colorado, Buffaloes fans have a lot to look forward to. In a recent piece by TIME, head coach Deion Sanders made a bold claim about the future of his program.

“We’re being unapologetically who we are,” Sanders said, per Sean Gregory. “You can tell, by everything that we’re accomplishing right now, that we’re headed in the proper direction at a speed that is undeniably a lot more expeditious than many people would have suspected.

“Shoot, this is going to be good. It’s just like the trailer of a movie you’re seeing. Just wait until you see the whole dern movie.”

The movie certainly hooked its audiences from the beginning. After stunning the reigning national runner-ups in their season opener, the Buffaloes rattled off another two-straight wins. The hot start came to a climax in Week 3 when Colorado took down Colorado State in double-overtime.

All eyes were on the Buffaloes. The game drew season-high 9.3 million viewers, despite starting at 10 p.m. ET and ending after 2 a.m. While Colorado fans are now facing conflict in their illustrious storyline, Sanders is confident in a happy ending.

Deion Sanders’ message remains consistent

After falling 42-6 to Oregon in Week 4, Sanders sent a message to the nation.

“I don’t say stuff just to say it for clicks,” Sanders said. “On contrary to what somebody said. I keep receipts. But I’m serious. I analyze and I understand what we’re up against and what we need. One thing I can say, honestly and candidly — [Dan Lanning] better get me right now. This is the worst we’re going to be. You better get me right now.”

Sanders’ recruiting work backs up his claims. Colorado already has two four-star recruits and six three-star prospects locked up in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Sanders is thrilled by the attention his program is receiving.

“I don’t know if it’s all love. I don’t think it’s all love. You haven’t checked the responses from the coaches that we’re participating against,” Sanders said. “But we’re excited, truly, with the attention that’s warranted to this wonder, beautiful university. I’m excited and elated to be the coach here. I’m excited to really talk about the wonderful attributes that we possess.”

The Buffaloes will have a chance to show off those wonderful attributes this weekend. On Saturday, Colorado will square off against Arizona State at 6:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
