Defensive recruiting target schedules official visit, first trip to Notre Dame

Two days after Fighting Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden stopped by his high school, three-star linebacker Keyshawn Flowers has scheduled his first trip to South Bend. The 6-1 1/2, 215-pound Flowers from Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding will officially visit Notre Dame from June 16-18, he told Blue & Gold.

Golden offered Flowers a scholarship on Feb. 22. Flowers is one of 34 linebackers — as positionally defined by On3 — to report an offer from the Irish.

Every one of his 17 Power Five offers has come after a standout junior season in which he registered 81 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks. So far, Flowers has visited Virginia (2), Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Miami (Fla.), Liberty and Alabama.

Flowers will also officially visit Miami (Fla.) from June 8-10 and Maryland from June 23-25, he told Blue & Gold.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Flowers as the No. 477 overall player, No. 50 linebacker and No. 15 prospect in Maryland. He has an 88.5 rating.

In On3’s own rankings, Flowers is the No. 35 linebacker and No. 13 prospect in Maryland and has an 89 rating.

Flowers’ On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $27,000. That ranks No. 943 among high school football prospects.

Currently, the Irish have one linebacker commit in three-star recruit Teddy Rezac. The 6-3 1/2, 185-pound Rezac is the No. 796 overall player, No. 46 athlete and No. 7 prospect in Nebraska. A junior at Omaha (Neb.) Westside High, Rezac committed to Notre Dame on Friday.

Notre Dame’s June official visitor slate taking shape

So far, Blue & Gold has confirmed 19 targets in 2024 will officially visit Notre Dame next month. Currently, Salem (Va.) High’s Chris Cole (June 9), Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry’s Bodie Kahoun (June 9) and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco’s Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (June 16) are the other linebacker targets with scheduled official visits.

Cole and Kahoun, three-star recruits, and Viliamu-Asa, a four-star recruit, both last visited Notre Dame the April 22 weekend of the Blue-Gold Game.

Cole (6-3, 210 pounds) is the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 912 overall player, No. 100 linebacker and No. 22 prospect in Virginia. He has an 86 rating.

The On3 Industry Ranking considers the 6-3, 215-pound Kahoun the No. 429 overall player, No. 45 linebacker and No. 6 prospect in Virginia.

The 6-1 ½, 205-pound Asa is the No. 116 overall, No. 10 linebacker and No. 14 prospect in California, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Kahoun and Cole are visiting during Notre Dame’s defensive commit official visit weekend. Blue & Gold has confirmed defensive lineman Owen Wafle, EDGE Bryce Young and cornerbacks Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore will officially visit that weekend. So will wide receiver commit Cam Williams, who has a schedule conflict the following weekend.

Four-star safety Jaylen McClain, three-star EDGE Anelu Lafaele, three-star defensive lineman Sean Sevillano will be on campus for official visits the same weekend as Flowers.

2024 class recruits are only allotted five official visits from April 1 to June 25. However, with legislation effective July 1, recruits can make unlimited official visits, but no more than one per school (unless there is a head coaching change). After June 25, recruits cannot officially visit schools again until Sept. 1 of their senior years.

2025 class recruits and beyond still cannot begin officially visiting schools until April 1 of their junior years.
