David Pierce applauds Texas for massive third inning response vs. Miami

David Pierce didn’t have much to be pleased about from Texas over their first two innings against Miami. Then, in the third, the Longhorns flipped the script on the Hurricanes and made their head coach quite proud.

Pierce joined the ESPNU broadcast following Texas nine-run inning that turned a 3-0 deficit into a six-run lead in the Coral Gables Regional. He was happy with how his team stayed aggressive in their opportunities and eventually put together a very strong inning.

“We got punched early. And we did a good job just having good at bats,” Pierce said. “Jack led us off, Mitch had a great walk. (We) pieced it together and it was a great inning. A lot of game to play though.”

Texas had progressively hung five runs already on Miami before Jalin Flores got up to bat. He then opened things up inside Mark Light Field with a grand slam that gave the Longhorns all the command they currently need within the game.
