Dates to know for South Carolina football targets

After landing a handful of commitments in June, South Carolina is currently ranked No.15 on On3’s 2023 consensus football team recruiting rankings.

For a comparison to where USC was a year ago, the Gamecocks went into July outside of top 30. As of today, South Carolina is already up to 13 commitments for 2024 class. That doesn’t include the silent commitment from June 12.

In the coming days and weeks, a handful of Gamecocks targets will make their commitments. While these dates are always subject to change, here’s what you can expect.

4-star WR, Keylen Adams

The 6-1, 180-pound four-star recruit out of Virginia Beach, VA is set to announce his commitment on July 13. Ranked 27th in the nation for his position by On3, South Carolina is the heavy favorite to land Adams. According to the On3 recruiting prediction machine, USC holds the edge over Virginia Tech at 79.1% to 7.3%.

4-star WR, Jonathan Paylor

From Burlington, NC Paylor is expected to announce his commitment on July 28. Ranked as the consensus No.30 WR for the class of 2024, he recently released his top five. The list includes Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Penn State and South Carolina. The On3 recruiting prediction machine has the Gamecocks as the heavy favorite to land him at 91.6%. NC State currently has the second best odds, according to the RPM, at 3.6%.

5-star EDGE, Dylan Stewart

After taking an official visit to South Carolina last weekend, the Gamecocks are feeling good about where they stand with Stewart. The 6-6, 240-pound EDGE announced his top five on June 23. Since then, the On3 recruiting prediction machine has swung favorably in USC’s direction. The Gamecocks sit at 53% while Ohio State is in second at 22.8%. Rated as the No.1 prospect in the class of 2024 by On3, Stewart has yet to share when he will announce his decision. However, it’s expected that he will at some point later on this summer.

4-star RB, Daniel Hill

Let’s just cut to the chase. South Carolina is in a big boy recruiting battle for Hill against Alabama. Just saying that goes to show how different things are compared to where they were a few summers ago. Listed as the No.6 ATH by On3, the Gamecocks are recruiting Hill to play running back. As of today, On3 recruiting prediction machine is giving USC the slight edge at 56.9%. Alabama sits at 41.4% to land the 6-2, 220-pound Mississippi native. There’s still no date set for when Hill will make his commitment but it could be coming as early as this month.
