CWS Live Updates: Tennessee begins Omaha journey with rematch of LSU on the grand stage

OMAHA — Tennessee baseball is back in the College World Series for the second time in three seasons and for the sixth time overall. The latest Omaha journey begins tonight at 7:40 pm ET as the Vols take on a rematch with LSU at Charles Schwab Field.

Tennessee (43-20) punched its ticket after knocking off Southern Miss in a decisive game three that ventured on into early Monday morning thanks to weather delays in Hattiesburg. LSU (48-15) handled Kentucky in two games at home after picking up the No. 5 overall seed prior to postseason play.

Right-handed hurler Andrew Lindsey (3-3, 2.79 ERA) will get the nod for the Vols in the opener while Dick Howser Trophy Winner Paul Skenes (12-2, 1.77 ERA). These two programs met earlier in the season and the Tigers took two of three games at Alex Box Stadium.

The winner of this game will advance on to play Wake Forest on Monday at 7 pm ET. The loser will challenge Stanford in an elimination game Monday afternoon at 2 pm ET.
