Cutter Boley Shares Mark Stoops’ Favorite Saying

Cutter Boley Shares Mark Stoops’ Favorite Saying

Football coaches are creatures of habit. They find a winning formula and they stick to it. That is why we often hear some of the same old stuff when they speak publicly. After 10+ years, Kentucky football fans have a good idea of what Mark Stoops will say during certain situations.

Will this injured player play? “We’ll see.”
How will you handle this tough loss? “We gotta get back to work.”
What will you do to adjust to life in the new SEC? “I’m not interested in just existing.”

Those are just a few of the lines he’s used throughout the years. They’re much different than the ones Stoops says behind closed doors with the Kentucky football team.

Club Blue shared a brief chat the NIL collective had with quarterback Cutter Boley. The Kentucky native just wrapped up his first year in Lexington. He’s still new to the media game, so some of the responses weren’t anything too remarkable.

However, he did deliver the goods when he was asked, “What’s Mark Stoops’ favorite saying?” It’s nothing we’ve heard before from the Kentucky head coach.

“He says, ‘Death, taxes, and UK Parking.’ There’s three things that are certain in life — death, taxes, and UK Parking,” Boley laughed. “People get tickets. UK Parking is going to find you and get you when you’ve messed up.”

It’s no laughing matter. Take a stroll outside of Kroger Field near the Kentucky football training facility, and you’ll see cars littered with parking tickets. If it’s your lucky day, you’ll spot a tire immobilized by a boot. It does not matter if you’re a high-profile Kentucky football player. UK Parking does not discriminate. If you attended the University of Kentucky, you know that harsh reality all too well.

Keep Expectations in Check for Cutter Boley in Year Two

Things went haywire for Kentucky football in 2024. It’s difficult to find reasons to be optimistic in a 4-win campaign, but Cutter Boley was one of them.

The true freshman played the entire second half against Murray State and threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He was called into action at Texas and showed no fear against one of the nation’s top pass defenses, slinging it for 160 yards in Austin. Kentucky fans were ready to go all-in on Boley. We were reminded in the Louisville game that the cake needs some time to bake.

Boley still has all of the tools to be a successful quarterback in the SEC. Kentucky has invested in him to make it a reality, but his processor still needs to develop in order to be able to operate efficiently against SEC defenses. Kentucky brought in Zach Calzada from the transfer portal to buy Boley some time. We’ll likely see the Kentucky kid in action a few times this fall, but don’t expect this investment to pay dividends until 2026.
