Cowboys star Micah Parsons compares Travis Kelce to Steph Curry for getting Taylor Swift to Arrowhead
Despite coming off of a big loss against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons couldn’t ignore the biggest headline of the weekend on his show, The Edge, on Bleacher Report this week. Revealing that he’s been a Taylor Swift fan since way back, the former first-rounder applauded Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for successfully shooting his shot.
He even compared the 33-year-old to Warriors star sharpshooter Steph Curry.
“Yes, I am a Swiftie,” Parsons said. “Big hype for you, dawg. You know what it is, dawg. I mean, damn, you shot from deep and you scored! You Steph Curry, my brother, you might be the new Steph of football, that’s dope.”
In case you weren’t aware, the Taylor Swift effect is REAL. Look no further than Kelce‘s last 24 hours since the pop superstar made an appearance at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday in support of her new “friend.”
Kelce’s No. 87 jersey has seen a 400% increase in sales, while the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end has also gained more than 300,000 followers on social media. He now owns a top-5 selling jersey in the NFL after the bump from Swifties across the country.
“My brothers!! One [woman] can change your life!!! Start shooting!!” Parsons tweeted in response to Kelce’s ridiculous boost in attention and merch sales.
Mahomes shares how he learned Swift was coming to Bears game
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had some advance notice that Swift might be in the house for the game, but he admitted in his post-game press conference that he wasn’t sure whether to believe his teammate that she was actually going to show up.
“He told me at like the last minute,” Mahomes said. “There are some things with Trav, he’ll say it and you don’t know if it’s true or not. Like he’ll say it so calmly… On Friday, he was like, ‘Yeah, I think she’s coming to the game this weekend,’ and then he just moved about his business. And then it just happens. That’s just Travis, I guess.”
The Chiefs QB also opened up about how he wanted to make sure he found Kelce in the endzone, which he did for the final Kansas City touchdown of the 41-10 win.
“I felt a little bit of pressure. And so I knew I had to get it to Travis. And of course, on a route that Travis, he does his own thing and makes up a route and I throw it to ’em. So, I think he wanted to get in the end zone as much as all the Swifties wanted him to,” Mahomes said following the game.
Mahomes also said that he hopes he gets the opportunity to meet Taylor Swift, which will undoubtedly happen if she continues “hanging out” with Kelce.
