Coveted safety has Gators in top seven, sets official visit
On Tuesday morning, Lyons (Ga.) Toombs County safety Lagonza Hayward took the next step in his recruitment, as he dished out his top-seven schools.
Those programs are Tennessee, Florida State, Florida, USC, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.
Hayward, a 4-star prospect and top-100 target in the On300 rankings, has numerous visits set too.
One of them is with the Florida Gators for an official visit.
“Yes sir, June 15,” Hayward told Gators Online on Thursday morning.
The Peach State native actually arrives on the 13th though and will depart campus that Sunday.
Initially, Hayward was supposed to officially visit Alabama that weekend instead.
“Naw, I canceled that because I wanted to see (Florida),” said Hayward.
The Gators are casting a wide net at safety and have several targets on the board, with Hayward being one of them on the rise for secondary coach Will Harris.
This comes after UF extended a scholarship offer in late January.
According to the On300 rankings, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior is the No. 7 safety and No. 83 prospect overall. He is also the 15th-ranked junior in the state of Georgia.
