Court documents reveal Patrick Mahomes Sr., John Rocker Bourbon Street confrontation was staged

Patrick Mahomes Sr. admitted that his altercation on Bourbon Street with John Rocker was “staged.” According to TMZ Sports, the father of three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Patrick Mahomes II made the admission on Feb. 13 when officials questioned him about his trip to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX.
The court documents obtained by TMZ Sports said the officials were slated to admonish Patrick Mahomes Sr. for his behavior. But Mahomes then confessed that the incident with John Rocker “was a staged altercation to get publicity for [a] celebrity boxing match that was set to take place in April 2025.”
A fight between Mahomes and Rocker is scheduled to happen. The court documents also included a Barstool Sports “Rough N Rowdy” contract that showed Mahomes and Rocker agreeing to a fight on Jan. 17. The altercation with the two happened earlier this month.
Mahomes’ pay for the fight will start at $85,000, but that could increase depending on the final pay-per-view numbers. His son has not commented on the situation.
Mahomes Sr. and Rocker both were MLB pitchers in the 1990s and 2000s. Mahomes pitched for multiple teams from 1992-2003, including the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. Rocker pitched from 1998-2003 and spent the majority of his career with the Atlanta Braves.

Rocker is also known for his controversial 1999 interview with Sports Illustrated. In the interview, Rocker took shots at people from New York when asked if he would ever play for the New York Yankees or New York Mets.
“I’d retire first,” he said. “It’s the most hectic, nerve-wracking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing…”
After the altercation in New Orleans, Mahomes and Rocker attacked each other on social media. “This f***ing loser can’t take a damn joke,” Rocker wrote. “Wish I laid him out right there and ruined his bullshit weekend even more.”
“You really haven’t changed one bit in the last 25 years,” Mahomes Sr. wrote. “Keep my name out your loud mouth.”
Rocker then responded: “You wouldn’t have had the balls to say that to my face the other night. Lanky ass clown.”
