How do the recruiting rankings for defensive players in Indianapolis compare to their current draft projections? Here’s how the offensive players fared.

DL Alfred Collins

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 9 DT, No. 8 in Texas, No. 78 in the country. 94.63

NFL Draft Projection: 2-3 round.

The Collins story is about a prospect with immense upside waiting his turn in the defensive line assembly line in Austin and it’ll pay off handsomely in April.

DL Vernon Broughton

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 16 DL, No. 14 in Texas, No. 116 in the country. 93.51

NFL Draft Projection: 4-5 round.

Like Collins, Broughton’s patience and development have been on display during his time on the Forty Acres.

EDGE/DL Barryn Sorrell

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 74 EDGE, No. 21 in Louisiana, No. 684 in the country. 85.10

NFL Draft Projection: 4-6 round.

The New Orleans native was the definition of development after steadily improving over his four years in Austin. He also shined at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

DB Jahdae Barron

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 36 CB, No. 58 in Texas, No. 413 in the country. 88.73

NFL Draft Projection: 1-2 round.

You might not find a smarter, more versatile prospect at this year’s NFL scouting combine. Corner, nickel, or safety, the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award winner can literally do it all. And the NFL loves it.

Jahdae Barron says teams have asked him if he prefers to play safety, nickel or corner

Jahdae’s response:

“I want to play all of them”

S Andrew Mukuba

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 6 S, No. 18 in Texas, No. 117 in the country. 93.42

NFL Draft Projection: 4-5 round.

The Clemson transfer seemed to get better each week at Texas. By the end of the season, he was one of the highest rated, hardest hitting defensive backs in college football. He’ll have a role in the league.

The 14 Longhorns in Indianapolis breaks the mark set by the 11-man contingent that went to the 2024 NFL Combine. All 11 who went to the 2024 Combine were picked in the 2024 NFL Draft, the most from Texas since the draft went to a seven-round format in 1994.
