Commitment incoming: Who could it be?
After an interesting weekend for USC fans, there is now something all can agree to be happy on. USC is landing a commitment. We know that because Lincoln Riley went to Twitter/X Sunday night with his usual commitment alert or “bat signal” with the victory hands emoji.
So, who is the commitment?
There are a couple of options here to explore and think on.
2024 CB Isaiah Rubin
One of the first options is Los Alamitos (Calif.) three-star cornerback Isaiah Rubin.
USC recently took the lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine following a pair of recent expert predictions in favor of the Trojans. USC recruiting insider Scott Schrader and Oregon recruiting insider Justin Hopkins entered them at 65% and 75% respectively.
Were Rubin to pick the Trojans, Rubin would be the second cornerback to pledge to USC this cycle, joining Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star Marcelles Williams. Committed elsewhere among the secondary are West Hills (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star safety Marquis Gallegos, Clearwater (Fla.) three-star safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. and Humble (Texas) Atascocita three-star safety Braylon Conley.
Rubin visited USC in late August, one of many trips he has taken to the Los Angeles campus.
2024 DL Jaylen Harvey
The second option who many will look to is Potomac (MD) Quince Orchard defensive lineman Jaylen Harvey.
Harvey revealed a top three of Maryland, Penn State, and USC about two months ago. Penn State and USC have the most talked about in that time, especially after Harvey visited Penn State for their White Out game last week.
Harvey took his official visit to USC back in June. The USC official visit was a huge success and left the Trojans feeling like they were in a good place moving forward.
“My interest in USC was already there, but when I went up there, I felt like I was home,” said Harvey about the USC official visit. “I felt like I could be myself up there around the coaches and players. Out of all my official visits, USC was No. 1.
Harvey also considers Roy Manning one of the best coaching Edge rushers and Outside Linebackers. Coach Manning has also done an outstanding job building solid relationship with the Harvey and his family. That’s a must in order to lure guys like him to the West Coast.
Mystery Man?
While the two prior prospects named will be popular picks for predictions on this commitment, it is also possible it may be a name we have not mentioned. The most likely answer in that scenario would be a prospect in a future class, 2025 or 2026.
There are a number of young prospects who have expressed legitimate interest and love for USC this season.
