Commit Watch: Five key recruits that could pick Michigan in June

Commit Watch: Five key recruits that could pick Michigan in June

Michigan should be extremely busy on the recruiting front in June. The staff is hitting the road for satellite camps and is also set to host a number of top targets for official visits.

And that means more commitments are on the way.

Here is a look at five key targets that could shut down their recruitments over the next month and side with the Wolverines — yes, more than these five is definitely a possibility.

WR I’Marion Stewart, Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood

Stewart has been a long-time Michigan lead and recently told me that he would be making his final decision in June. The four-star prospect has visited Michigan more than any other school in his top group and is set to be back on campus for his official visit on June 23. Michigan has a 95.8 percent chance of landing the Windy City pass catcher, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. It would be surprising if the Wolverines don’t seal the deal here. Stewart is ranked as the No. 58 wide receiver and No. 356 overall prospect nationally.

DL Owen Wafle, Princeton (N.J.) Hun School

Wafle has not set a new decision date after backing out of his verbal pledge from Notre Dame last week. However, Wafle did tell me that he could make his commitment at some point in the next month. Michigan is set to host him for an official visit on June 9, and if things go well, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Wolverines win him over on the spot. Michigan currently has an 82.9 percent chance of landing Wafle, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He is ranked as the No. 38 defensive lineman and No. 408 overall prospect nationally.

EDGE Devon Baxter, Brandywin (Md.) Gwynn Park

Baxter has yet to visit Michigan, but I recently logged a pick in favor of the Wolverines. Michigan now has a 94.3 percent chance of landing him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Look, Baxter is still slated to visit Maryland and Rutgers, but if everything goes well on his Michigan official visit on June 16, then I could see him shutting things down on the spot. Michigan is making him a top priority, and EDGE spots are going to be filling up in a hurry. There are plenty of other June commitment candidates at the position as well. Baxter is ranked as the No. 26 EDGE and No. 374 overall prospect nationally.

LB Aaron Chiles, Olney (Md.) Good Counsel

Chiles recently released a final three of Florida, Maryland and Michigan and is set to take official visits to all of them in June. Chiles told me that he plans on making his final decision soon after his trips are over. Remember, Michigan is slated to have Chiles in last (June 23), which is definitely a positive. The Wolverines will have a chance to make a strong final impress and come away with a massive recruiting win. Chiles is a top overall target this cycle, and the Wolverines have a 93.8 percent chance of landing the On300 recruit, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Chiles is ranked as the No. 8 linebacker and No. 101 overall prospect nationally.

LB Jeremiah Beasley, Belleville (Mich.) High

An On300 in-state prospect, Beasley has locked in his commitment date for June 29. Michigan is considered the favorite going into a critical point in his process and has a 95.3 percent chance of landing him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Right now, Beasley has official visits scheduled with Michigan State (this weekend) and Michigan (June 16). While his half brother, Maliq Carr, plays for the Spartans, Beasley knows Michigan is a great fit for him on and off the field. Beasley is ranked as the No. 28 linebacker and No. 278 overall prospect nationally.
