College Football Odds: Point spreads released on key 2025 season games

The long college football offseason is upon us, with several months to go until games are played again and teams begin vying for their spots in the College Football Playoff.
That said, there’s plenty to keep active minds engaged until then. Like who might win the hypothetical matchups and who Vegas sees as the early favorites to do so.
FanDuel recently released a list of early lines for some key college football games in 2025, so On3 stops to compile them and provide a brief rundown below. Let’s begin.
Iowa State at Kansas State (-3.5)
The first game of the season, Farmageddon will be played in Dublin, Ireland between these two programs. It’s a big rivalry game between the two, so there will be plenty at stake in the matchup.
Iowa State will be coming off a season in which it could taste the College Football Playoff, just one win away in the Big 12 Championship Game. Kansas State will look to bounce back in its second year with Avery Johnson working as the starting quarterback. A great stage for both programs.
Texas at Ohio State (-3.5)
Ohio State will enter the monster early-season showdown with a huge target on its back as the defending national champion. Texas knows if it wants to get where it would like to be, it’ll eventually have to go through teams like Ohio State. Might as well start early.
The Buckeyes will have some major pieces to replace; so will the Longhorns. But all eyes will be on Arch Manning and his debut as the full-time starter. It’ll be must-see TV.
Alabama (-8.5) at Florida State

Florida State is coming off a season it would like to forget, only winning two games. Mike Norvell‘s program was at its highest in 2023 but came crashing down hard in 2024. Can 2025 get back toward the heights?
It’ll be a tough early challenge against Alabama, though the Crimson Tide did lose athletic quarterback Jalen Milroe to the NFL Draft. How well Kalen DeBoer can keep the offense humming with him gone will be a big key to this matchup.
LSU at Clemson (-2.5)
While Brian Kelly’s program fell short of their championship aspirations this past season, it still won nine games and capped its campaign off with a solid bowl win. Better: Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is back to lead his team into the 2025 campaign.
Clemson also has the luxury of a veteran quarterback returning, with Cade Klubnik set to pilot things in 2025. That’s two of the best quarterbacks in college football set to go at it. The (orange set of) Tigers will have the luxury of playing at home.
Auburn (-1.5) at Baylor
In the history of this series, Auburn and Baylor have played four times and the Bears hold a very slight lead in the series with a record of 2-1-1. The last time these two teams played was back in 1976, however, making it nearly five decades since these two teams met. Auburn’s only win in the series came in 1954, their first meeting.
So it’ll be an interesting foray into Texas for the Tigers, who are hoping to show some signs of life under coach Hugh Freeze. Meanwhile, the Bears salvaged their 2024 season nicely and will be looking to roll up some momentum into the fall.
Georgia Tech (-4.5) at Colorado

Georgia Tech was a bit of a roller-caster ride in 2024 en route to a 7-5 regular season. There was the high of a win over ranked Miami, but there were also some disappointing lows. Finding more consistency will be important in 2025.
On the other side, Colorado loses two of the best players in college football in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. This early season contest could be determined by how much quality depth Deion Sanders has cultivated to this point.
Syracuse at Tennessee (-14.5)
This clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta should be a good one, though it’ll be a whole lot of orange for one location. Tennessee currently owns a 3-0 lead in the all-time series history, so Syracuse will be searching for win No. 1 under Fran Brown.
The major difference in this one is that the Orange must replace starting quarterback Kyle McCord, while the Volunteers return Nico Iamaleava. As the spread indicates, this is likely to be an uphill climb for Syracuse.
South Carolina (-9.5) at Virginia Tech
Another college football game in Atlanta on opening weekend, South Carolina and Virginia Tech will get the spotlight of a Sunday game. It should be an excellent opener for two quality programs looking to build on some recent success.
Shane Beamer‘s Gamecocks will be favored by a good margin, returning quarterback LaNorris Sellers and a slew of other talented players. Virginia Tech will be the team with something to prove, coming off a 6-7 season in 2024.
Notre Dame (-2.5) at Miami
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman. (Chad Weaver, Blue & Gold)
The Fighting Irish will be a slight favorite, even on the road and replacing quite a bit of talent from the squad that recently represented the program in the national championship game. Miami also loses a bunch, most notably quarterback Cam Ward.
This time it will be former Georgia star Carson Beck who joins Miami and takes the reins of the offense. How quickly he can get up to speed and whether the Hurricanes have fixed their defense could be the keys to the game.
TCU at North Carolina (-2.5)
The Horned Frogs and Tar Heels had interesting seasons to say the least. TCU finished 9-4 with a New Mexico Bowl win while UNC finished 6-7 and lost the Fenway Bowl, but ended up hiring Bill Belichick.
Obviously Belichick’s arrival in Chapel Hill will be the big storyline. How that plays out — how he can motivate, how big a deal his Xs and Os knowledge will be, etc. — will be downright riveting.
Ohio State (-5.5) at Michigan
One of the only late-season games with a listed line, The Game always delivers. And last season showed it doesn’t always matter who’s favored.
Ohio State still has as much talent as anyone in the country, but there’s a good deal to replace, too. Can Michigan take a step back toward the top level of college football again after falling off following a national title? Sherrone Moore has a lot to prove.
