Class of 2025 Central-Phenix City WR Daylyn Upshaw returns to the Plains: ‘I love Auburn’

Central-Phenix City junior wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw visited Auburn football on Thursday, May 18.

Upshaw, who has an early offer from Auburn, made the short trip up to Auburn with three teammates: 2024 five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, four-star defensive back and Red Morgan and 2025 offensive lineman Mal Waldrep.

The four recruits, all with Auburn offers, spent Thursday afternoon getting more acquainted with the Tigers’ campus, facilities and coaches.

“It went good,” Upshaw said. “We came up, took pictures, tried to go to the stadium and then went and ate.”

Upshaw building bond with Davis

Upshaw spent a lot of time with new wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.

“I love Coach Davis,” he said. “We were in there bonding, just chilling in there like we have been knowing each other for more than 10 years. He’s like my dog. We were just in there chilling.”

Davis is a big reason Upshaw has high interest in Auburn.

“Auburn stands very high for me,” he said. “I’ve visited so many times and they have been standing out.”

Why?

“Probably the coaching staff,” he said. “The new facilities. The weight room is so fire. It’s hard to explain, but I love Auburn.”

Upshaw taking time, but AU in great spot

Upshaw isn’t putting a timeframe on making a commitment.

“I want to (make an early decision), but I am not going to rush it,” he said. “I want to commit with Cam and them (in December) because those are like my big brothers, but I’m not going to rush it. I’m going to commit when the time is right.”

He doesn’t list a leader, but is apparent that Auburn will be a contender until the end. Proximity to home is a big deal for Upshaw.

“It’s easy to get down here,” he said. “I love being close to Auburn because my dad was an Auburn fan. I want him to come to a lot of the games here, so it would be way easier than having to fly or drive seven hours to a college when it’s just 30 minutes to Auburn.”

What about his teammates? Is Auburn pushing for all four?

“It’s a big push,” he said. “They are just showing us a lot of love. Everyone wants a Central pipeline to Auburn. We are here to make it happen.”
