Checking in on a previous RPM pick for Penn State

It’s been a rollercoaster the last month for Penn State on the trail, and no recruitment sums that up as much as Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard defensive end Jaylen Harvey. The On3 Industry four-star prospect has long been considered a Nittany Lions lean, but it hasn’t been that simple.
He came out of his official visit to Penn State in early June as a heavy lean to the Nittany Lions, in the sense that he told coaches coming out of the trip that he would not be taking any other visits ahead of a July 4 decision. That didn’t happen, however, as Harvey went to Florida, USC and Maryland on consecutive weekends following the Penn State trip.
He pushed back that July 4 decision and is now open-ended as to when he’ll decide. As we reported at the time, Harvey was great with the Nittany Lions through the first two trips but he was quieter after the trip to Maryland.
Penn State still leads on the On3 RPM
I’ve had a pick in place for Harvey to Penn State since October. I checked in with sources in Happy Valley regarding Harvey and it seems that the confidence arrow is pointing up once again this week. The Nittany Lions seem as confident as they have since that trip in June.
A decision date is still not set, but August seems like the most likely conclusion before he gets his senior season underway. After fading a little in June and the early part of this month, I still like my pick for Penn State as of today. The catch, of course, is that this one will likely be a battle to the end regardless.
Penn State has had Harvey near the top of its edge board for most of the cycle. Though a bit undersized, he’s explosive as a pass rusher and bends better than most in the 2024 cycle. He’s the No. 347 player in the country and the No. 27 edge prospect nationally according to the On3 Industry rankings.
