Checking in on a Couple of Kentucky Football Recruiting Targets

Kentucky football had a nice June and start of July on the recruiting trail, but things have seemed to slow down in recent weeks. Now, KSR+ is checking in with some targets to see where things stand.

UK offensive line target Isaac “Spike” Sowells is set to announce his commitment on Thursday. The list of targets for Kentucky remains long.

KSR+ is providing updates on a couple of football targets, including a potential flip. Kentucky currently has the nation’s No. 21-ranked recruiting class, according to On3. UK’s class currently ranks No. 10 in the SEC.

Mikkel Skinner

Mikkel Skinner, a 2025 four-star tight end, tells KSR+ that he intends to take an official visit to Kentucky, but has not set a date yet. Skinner is currently committed to Cincinnati, but UK has started to make a push in recent weeks.

The 6-foot-3.5, 220-pound tight end from Riverside (Greer, SC) added an offer from Kentucky on July 10. Skinner took his first visit to Kentucky back in March of 2023.

Ja’Hyde Brown

Ja’Hyde Brown is a 2027 wide receiver from the Christian Academy of Louisville (KY) and has been on Kentucky’s radar for some time. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound wideout added an offer from Kentucky in May.

Now, Brown is looking to get on campus. He tells KSR+ that he will plan a visit for sometime in the fall.

Brown has already amassed several offers heading into his sophomore year. Schools such as Louisville, Miami of Ohio, and Toledo are already on his trail.
