Chase Briscoe breaks down future of No. 14 team, approach to life after Stewart-Haas

Chase Briscoe breaks down future of No. 14 team, approach to life after Stewart-Haas

Chase Briscoe is still on the lookout for his next ride following Stewart-Haas Racing’s announcement last week that it will shut down operations following the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

It’s a tough spot to be in for Briscoe, as he’s spent the last four years in the No. 14 Ford and has built a family-like bond with his team. In an ideal world, Briscoe would like to take every member of his team with him. Should that not materialize, he knows how valuable they’ll be to other teams.

“We’re all such a close-knit group,” Briscoe told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I’ve been with this group for four years, literally every single person, we’ve never lost a single person on our deal. So, I feel like those guys are my family. They came to the gender reveal, they do a lot of family functions with us. I definitely wanna try to find a way to wherever I go to get those guys an opportunity because I really do feel like the 14 group is a top 5 group in the garage as far as the camaraderie and what they bring to the table. Whatever team gets any of those guys is definitely getting a real good group for sure.”

Chase Briscoe seeking improvement at Sonoma

Still just 29 and with a playoff appearance to his name, Briscoe, in theory, should have no problem finding another ride in 2025. He’s currently the best-running member of SHR, sitting 15th in the points standings. But after a P25 finish in the Coca-Cola 600 and a P17 result at Gateway, Briscoe feels he needs to pick it up in order to impress other teams.

“Not really,” said Briscoe on if there’s any update on a new ride. “It doesn’t really help with how we’ve been running lately. I definitely need to have a good weekend this weekend. I feel like that obviously helps any time you can go and run good. I’ve seen it at the lower levels when I would run good, it would advance talks for whatever you’re doing next year. Need to have a good couple weeks these next couple weeks. It’s just crazy how the silly season is right now. You gotta stand out from those other six, seven guys that are gonna be in that situation. Hopefully I can do that this weekend.”

He’ll have his work cut out for him at Sonoma on Sunday, starting 23rd.
